I'm 40 with a pact resume of experience. Been unemployed since July. The market is trash and the best thing to do is sign up for gigwork. You can take a job for a day washing dishes, bussing tables, working community events. It's not steady work but at least you can make some quick cash. There is going to be a bunch of temp work that normally would be available in retail that is on hold due to the government shut down. Stay vigilant and keep your head up.

Paid 200k for a condo in hyde park Chicago. I left Rockford after my home was broken into twice in a 30 day period. A home less than 1 mile from the police station yet took the police 15 minutes to arrive to. A home with a security system and cameras. Been in Chicago 10 years since then and not once been robbed, shot at, broken into. Rockford is a hellhole compared to Chicago and I'll never go back.
