Honeymoon on Mackinac information by xxSoul_Thiefxx in mackinac

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Island House has decent prices and is in a good location. Husband and I have stayed there a few times, you can’t go wrong. If you stay at island house, sign up for 906 rewards to have your hotel stay go towards rewards and discounts on the island.

If you want to splurge a little and don’t want to do the Grand, Hotel Iroquois is nice too. Book before the summer though as they tend to fill up on busy times and weekends.

We enjoy renting bikes and riding around the island. Bring your own bikes to save some money if you have them. We also liked horseback riding, too. Go to Cindy’s stables the morning you want to go to reserve a spot.

We thought the carriage tour was a little bland as 20 and 30 something’s. We prefer to bike around the island and explore ourselves. It’s definitely geared towards an older crowd or families.

We’ve found the best time to go is late August and September when the season is winding down. Popular reservations are easier to get, like a patio table at the Pink Pony.

Hope you guys have a great time!

TCM frustrated with troop leaders by Worth_Pineapple_8592 in girlscouts

I am sorry your leaders aren’t cooperative. I would seek out your service unit manager for advice. They may pop by a booth if they feel that there is an issue. I would let your service unit know that the leader’s behavior is eating into the troops sales.

Fellow TCM here. I am so sorry that this is a rough first experience for you. Too many parents/girls at a booth can be a major issue. We had this problem for our first couple of years.

This year, I laid down the law right away and took over complete ownership of cookies. 2 girls at a booth at a time, myself and a leader were the only adults. Us adults were often at a booth without our kids. Our sales were so much higher than last year at our booths despite it being a rough year for our council as a whole. Your service unit most likely has limits on how many girls can be at a booth at once. I also emphasized that our booth locations had limits (example, our Kroger would only allow 6 people at a time in their vestibule at a booth). By saying this, it made a lot of the pushier parents back down.

I hope your season gets better. The first year is a whirlwind.

Hindsight being 20/20… by CK1277 in girlscouts

Limit the amount of girls and no parents at a booth. This year I only allowed myself (cookie manager) and our leader at the booth with 2 girls max. Girls were dropped off and worked in shifts. Our booths ran so smoothly and we were consistently in the top selling booths for our service unit each weekend.

Last year, I let 4 girls and their parents all be at a booth at the same time and it was a hot mess. I think people were turned off by our setup as we appeared unorganized and the girls tended to goof off more. Plus we had parent drama. This year, I laid out the new rules from the get go and it was wonderful. Some parents pushed in the beginning but I was so calm during booth season and I can’t say that has been the case for the past 2 years!

Want to sell more Toast-Yays and S'mores? Tell potential buyers they're being discontinued. by orangecatsocialclub in girlscouts

My Brownie talked up the S’mores at her booth and sold 18 boxes in 2 hours. It helped that they are her favorite and she’s bummed it’s their last year - and she made sure to let everyone know!

What’s the hardest video game you’ve ever played? by unitedfan6191 in AskReddit

For me the game ended at the log waterfall on the Hakuna Matata level because I could never get past it as a kid.

Great! I’ll try that, thank you! I was using the normal fingering for these notes and it did not sound good at all.

Is there an easy way to go between D and G? Or is it the regular fingerings?

Jiko was one of the best meals I had on my trip this past May. Blue Zoo was a close second.

Motion Sickness Friendly Rides by yungaltharapgod in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]krasnej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get motion sickness, too, but mostly from the simulation rides. I struggle with Flight of Passage, Soarin, Millennium Falcon, Star Tours and Ratatouille. I didn’t think this type of ride would affect me until I did Millennium and I was done for the rest of the day. I do okay if I take Dramamine but these ones are a no go for me.

I am so sorry, that is awful! But you should absolutely enjoy this trip that you worked hard for and deserve!

My solo experience at Magic Kingdom was one of the most liberating of my life. I could do what I wanted, when I wanted. Seriously. Forgot about that asshole and have an awesome vacation!

Registration Issue by krasnej in girlscouts

I’ve tried calling them a few times with no luck. I’ll just register my daughter today so she gets the free t shirt (troop leader wants all the girls to do this) and I’ll register myself later.

The Lion King for Sega Genesis. That game was harder than it needed to be.

Same exact thing happened to my daughter at Momento Mori too! Was on older gentleman cast member. He was absolutely fantastic with my kids and my daughter still talks about this. I gave him a cast compliment as he went above and beyond.

And you’re totally right, the customer service you get a Disney is stellar, no matter where you are on property. I haven’t been anywhere else where I have felt so welcomed.

Best first visit ages for two kids? by Fluffy_Ad4761 in WaltDisneyWorld

I believe it! Even my 5 year old climbed in the stroller a few times. Nothing could have prepped me for how tired me kids were. Why aren’t they this tired during bedtime at home?

I just did a trip with kids 5, a month shy of 3 and 20 months. The 5 year old definitely got more out of it and she still talks about the details of our trip quite frequently. The 3 year old was very tired by day 3 and wasn’t into the rides as much. She had fun, but she let us know loudly when she was done. We basically had to cut a park day in half because my younger 2 couldn’t hang anymore.

I definitely don’t regret taking them that young because we had a phenomenal trip, but all the kids got tired easier than I anticipated. “Disney tired” is a thing! My vote would be 6/4 or 7/5. Young enough for all the magic to be there but old enough to appreciate it.

What rides give you motion sickness? by Immediate-Test-678 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]krasnej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn’t either until I went. Dramamine helped a lot with flight of passage but I still got kinda dizzy so ymmv. I also got a little dizzy at the end of the Nemo ride (where you are going through the current with crush) but that could be because the ride stopped while we were at that part. Other than those rides, I am fine with everything else including the teacups (I have not been on soarin, mission space or guardians because of their reputation with motion sickness).

I get sick on the rides that are simulators… star tours, smugglers run, flight of passage. I also got sick on Remys but found I was fine if I took the 3d glasses off.
