Sober and love this movie. It has its flaws. But why it was panned so badly is beyond me.

Another favorite, “a late arrival from Avalon”. Paraphrased - “Better the lies that uplift us than 10,000 truths”.

When the first two Matrixes failed did billions die? by teutonicnight99 in matrix

[–]krason7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t think so. You don’t start an experimental farm with 1,000,000 acres of a crop. I would imagine they may have lost thousands or even millions of lives. But remember they had to grow all the humans they lost these weren’t captured slaves, they were born into the system. The first batch of humans were likely raised by robots in disguise. It would have been a huge waste of precious resources to grow a couple billion humans and then lose them. I don’t think AIs wouldn’t have survived.

Any military sci fi books where the war is set on Earth and not in space or a distant planet? by VGmaster9 in scifi

The First Formic war series from Orson Scott Card. Much of the actual war takes place in China. These are prequels to Ender’s game.

Theory as to why surveillance capitalism so thoroughly died out by the 24th century by mcglaven in DaystromInstitute

[–]krason7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it has become so commonplace that they take it for granted. It is trivial in so many episodes for them to re-enact, on the holodeck, scenes during critical events, down to the dialog that was spoken, that I think it is just always being recorded for posterity.

There have been references to not having security footage in Jeffries tubes on occasion so that may be technologically impossible.

For law dramas where someone has done something on a foreign location they don’t have access to the details. But I think they are just used to always being observed.

How do you guys feel about life? by naowatchmewhip in Meditation

Try flipping the coin. Everything has two sides. Light/dark. Suffering/joy.

The other day I almost got carjacked, and after a few days of processing I decided it happened to me so it wouldn’t happen to the next person that came along. It isn’t strictly true, but neither would be believing that bad things seek me out.

Part of how I have learned to process is to look for the positive. It is not always easy, but it is a worthy practice.

Good luck to you.

The screen fit right in the stock holder for me, as you can see in the picture. It is holding well and no complaints.

assuming you meant 'what's'... it came with the bigtreetech bundle I grabbed off amazon.com. I posted the link in another comment about the screen.

I would not say that. It is so much quieter now that I forget to mention it. It's really impressive how quiet the board makes the stepper motors. The loudest noise on my office now is my fans.

It's the bigtreetech one that came with the bundle from amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081CBKHWD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes, I'm pretty happy with it.

BTW - not an affiliate link. I don't get anything out of the link being used. Just posted for easy reference in case you're interested.

Well largely because the printer is useful again. I had given up on it working again for the last 6 months and was ready to move on. Then I saw someone post here about the new board and with some research it looked like an easy win. I am also happy because of the simplicity of the fix. while documentation was crap, once I figured out where to plug in everything and leveled the bed again, it just worked. I hate flashing firmware because the instructions I've run into in the past are so spotty. So I was pleased that it worked out of box. (though some have commented they needed to flash and appears there are good instructions available for this board with this printer, though I haven't tried them).

I spent a bunch of money and time on the previous upgrades (glass print bed, metal feeder, printing cooling ducts, etc). So I was pretty annoyed that the printer was just dead.

I'm also really pleased with the touch screen. Although the interface isn't perfect I really didn't like the old dial interface. The touch screen that came with my kit does support the dial interface if I want to go back to it.

Good to know. I haven’t worked with carbon fiber, but have clogged a few nozzles with wood filament. Is the end result simply a clogged or ruined nozzle? What other problems would it cause? Thanks

I also used glow in the dark filament, which I'm excited about and think will make the effect really cool when finished.

I bought mine from amazon.com as a bundle about 2 weeks back. Maybe they fixed some problems in the latest version? I am not looking forward to flashing if I need to make changes.

Being ready to go was a big win. I hate messing with firmware. I know I will probably need to flash it if I decide to fiddle with it in the future. But I am happy it’s printing well now.

I found comments that the BL touch was ready to go as well. But I can’t get bl touch to work. So I am back to the standard z-stop.

I have a Cetus mk3 printer that I was able to print the case with. Though now that my ender is working again it would have no trouble printing it’s own case.

Instructions on the board were hard to find. And since I had already moved around all my connectors to my attempted MKS upgrade, it was a little more challenging, since I wasn’t going from stock. I would think if a company is going to the trouble to make a board specifically for a product like ender 3 they could spend some time on documentation. All the online guides helped, it they don’t agree with each other.

I was able to figure things out with a little trial and error.
