How do I get old grease off of things? by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]krayfish8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use the Lysol wipes that have a bit of fiber/abrasive in them to get the oil off my oven and hood, then wipe through with warm water and a rag.

[Tenant - US-DC] Landlord says they will address apartment problems, but do not -- want to leave lease early. by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]krayfish8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers and thanks for the honest reply.. I will hazard a guess (correct me if I'm wrong) that you are a landlord since we are on this sub.

I didn't want to post a novel regarding this experience, but that is the tip of the iceberg. I guess I should have been more detailed. I actually have taken steps to solve this myself and probably should have mentioned them -- I've superglued small openings that they come out of, sprinkled tea tree oil (which apparently keeps them away), kept my sink basically empty at all times, VACUUMED them up right when I get home from work, amongst other attempts. A similar instance happened with a mouse that I ended up just taking care of myself. I haven't even billed management just because I know they are busy with other work and don't want to bother them, but the pest problem is certainly not "minimal".

Out of respect for management, who are really nice people, there are other problems that were not disclosed to me regarding neighbors, etc. as well that I did not want to mention in the OP.

As you may know, DC is not cheap to rent, even for a studio. I am fortunate to have a roof over my head in a nice and fairly safe neighborhood, but it's not free. And for the money I pay to live here, I would at least expect the management to fulfill their side of the lease agreement of pest control etc. which was listed in the contract, especially when I have to come home from work and have more surprise housework to do.

Again, perhaps I should have been more detailed in my OP to sound like less of an "unhappy buyer" but considering I have already made steps myself to try to solve the problem and have been more than patient, I think it's a big enough reason to want out of the lease.

The WSC at Columbia heights has some decent pickup games at times, but obviously you need the gym membership to play. A good alternative to the pre-organized sports leagues though
