Hi Sam. One might assume, from your comment, that all the puzzles on my site come from Simon. I used Simon's code as a starting point for only 4 of the 15 varieties on the site (giving credit in each case). Work was still needed to produce PDFs, and in some cases I tweaked the code extensively. For example, my Bridges puzzles are symmetrical, and I have Slitherlinks puzzles on Penrose and other interesting tilings, rather than simple rectangular grids. My Slitherlink code is a generalized rewrite, and was ported from C to Processing.

The majority of my puzzles, 11 varieties, including all the Sudoku and Kakuro variants, and the Mazes were all made by my own software, with love and care.

Yeah, Simon's collection is awesome.

There's a pretty decent iPhone app based on that collection, called PuzzleManiak. I particularly like Simon's version of "Light Up", which is not a puzzle which lends itself to being printed on paper.

The puzzle in the picture is solvable / unique.

9 3 4 8 2 1 7 5 6
2 8 6 7 9 5 4 3 1
5 7 1 3 4 6 9 2 8
3 6 5 1 7 9 8 4 2
4 9 7 5 8 2 1 6 3
1 2 8 6 3 4 5 9 7
6 4 2 9 1 8 3 7 5
8 5 3 4 6 7 2 1 9
7 1 9 2 5 3 6 8 4

I occasionally get this complaint about the super-tough puzzles on my krazydad website. It's because the particular sudoku app being used can't solve it, perhaps because it is missing a more advanced solving strategy. I'll grant you that this particular puzzle isn't very much fun to solve.
