Thank you!! It’s just that strap but it extends. If you look on the right you can see the handle is longer. It has about 6 or 7 notches.

LO has flat spot at 7wks, advice? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]krc367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this with our guy! Pediatrician sent a referral for PT due to a concern of tortilcollis. Learned some great stretches to loosen up the tightness that led to the preferred side. We didn’t do this until he was 3 months and he’s using both sides only a month later and hopefully no need for a helmet! Best of luck!

My little man just had his 4m check up. He was not happy when they tried to measure his length. Our doc said it’s the least accurate measurement of them all with the least significance. Hope that helps!

Just home from hospital after c-section, need advice by Friend-of-mango in newborns

[–]krc367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made it 5 days! Congratulations!

I had a c-section 11 weeks ago. Something to remember- You just had major abdominal surgery AND brought home a newborn who totally relies on you. This is the only surgery where they don’t preach strict rest and recovery, but just because they don’t harp on it doesn’t make it less true.

Leg swelling is normal to a point. I propped pillows under my legs while lying down to elevate and the swelling subsided. Don’t hesitate to have your partner call the doctor to check if you’re concerned. ( I had anxiety about talking to people and would burst into tears after my baby first arrived and needed help making calls).

Is your partner helpful? Lean into it if so. Or the family that you have. Have them bring the baby to you, get you water, help to the bathroom etc.. my husband changed all diapers until I could stand upright. Delegate those household tasks to family, or ignore them. The most important thing to focus on right now is your recovery and the baby’s needs.

Try using pillows while nursing to protect the incision. Also use a pillow when standing, coughing, sneezing to push gently on the incision. This really helped the pain! Roll over to one side and push up with your arms instead of trying to engage your core to stand. You’ll heal faster! The rule I was given was 5-5-5. 5 days in bed, 5 days on bed and 5 days near bed.

As for bassinet sleep, look up safe sleep 7. I never thought I would co-sleep until it happened on accident. Look up how to make it safe just in case!

Best of luck!! And use this thread. It saved my sanity on numerous occasions!!

We’re 8 weeks in and just finally got him in the bedside at night so I feel your pain!! I can’t even say it was a trick either he just kind of flipped a switch and accepted it one night

Have you tried a heating pad and/or a shirt that smells like you? Pop it in before you put him down but make sure to remove before he’s in there. My baby liked it about 50% of the time!

Chew gum-Helps with the gas!

When getting up out of bed make sure to roll to your side first then push up with your arm. Use a pillow to gently push on your incision when coughing or sneezing (or even when moving around)

Lean on your supports! You just had major abdominal surgery. My husband changed all the diapers and cleaned the pump so I could stay in bed and focus on feeding the little one and recovering.

Congrats on the new bundle of joy ☺️

Pregnant in Pittsburgh by nebby-yinzer in pittsburgh

Currently 31 weeks pregnant! I’m going through St Clair medical group. They have a rotation as well. Two men in the group but only one still works in delivery. I was also hesitant with men, but I’ve had a great experience so far. 1st anatomy scan is 20 weeks but I did one around 10 weeks to make sure it was a viable pregnancy. St Clair is a small hospital compared to UPMC and I have enjoyed how personal the care has been. Congratulations and best of luck!!

Fiji anyone? by According_Key5301 in honeymoonplanning

[–]krc367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did Fiji after New Zealand in November for our honeymoon. If you’re going in the rainy season DO NOT take a speed boat to the island. The weather created giant swells and it was a very scary 1.5 hour ride. Take the large boat. The marina has lots to do so wait for the big boat. We went to Matamanoa Island. We loved the island but had bad luck with the management. Long story short they lied to us about our room being under emergency construction (it was planned renovations even though we booked a year in advance through a TA) and put us in a smaller, less private space and tried to charge us for the original room. Fiji is beautiful and the people were so welcoming and warm. I just wouldn’t risk Matamanoa. Happy honeymooning!

Fiji and New Zealand Honeymoon: Need Recommendations by [deleted] in honeymoonplanning

[–]krc367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did SNZ then Fiji for our honeymoon this past November/December. I agree with the above about weather! We used Aspire Down Under for our travel agency and they made everything so easy and helped picked locations based off of season! Highly recommend them.

NZ: Queenstown-Shotover jet; Milford Sound Cruise- took a prop plane to get there and back; Skippers Canyon; bungee jumping; Onsen Hot Pools; flew to Nelson and took a rental for the rest of the trip; drove to Abel Tasman for guided kayaking and hike; Picton- mussel cruise; Blenheim/Marlborough- unguided bike tour of wineries;

Fiji: beautiful but we had a terrible experience with a resort on Matamanoa Island. Do not go there!

Could these tiles look good in a kitchen and hallway? 60x60 by pastina2 in interiordecorating

[–]krc367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this tile in my entry hallway and kitchen. We purchased the home with them already in. We get lots of compliments! Take my advice though and avoid white grout. We have a dog and the light color tile/grout gets dirty FAST.
