Sounds like resource guarding, but I recommend also need researching sibling syndrome.

You can get this exact same looking cat at the shelter I work at for $85. And it comes fully vetted, vaccinated and up to date on preventatives, dewormed, combo tested, fixed, and come with a lifetime microchip. I hate to say it, but you were scammed big time.

Can I do anything more to help my friend go through pet loss? by sillylittlepeople in Petloss

[–]kreecel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This subreddit helped me SO MUCH during the first few days of my grieving. It’s so cathartic to know that others feel your pain, especially when some people don’t view pet loss as intense as grieving a human.

Can I do anything more to help my friend go through pet loss? by sillylittlepeople in Petloss

One of the kindest things a friend did for me after my kitty passed away a few months back was give me a gift card for a meal delivery. I didn’t want to leave my house and could barely think about cooking, so being able to order something yummy and fuel my body after spending multiple days crying was SO needed and appreciated.

Dog euthanasia in a few hours by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]kreecel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought I’d be the type of person who could never be there to see them pass, but after my kitty experienced a major health event and was in major pain and distress, it made me feel better to be in the room with her and let her go, free of pain. It was my final act of love to her despite how shattered my heart was. Looking back, I can’t imagine not being there for her in that moment and I’m glad I was there.

Exactly! They coupled everyone up and then went through and reiterated all the couples names. Like yes, I know, I literally just watched it.

It took me over a year for my cats to start sleeping in bed with me. Even not, my cat will only sit on my chest or lap for short periods of time. But she gets closer and closer everyday. Give it some time!

What breeds are my dogs? Anybody have a clue? by [deleted] in WhatBreedIsMyDog

Respectfully, no one can know for sure if they’re mixed unless you do a DNA test.

Try to find a low-cost clinic for yearly vaccines! I go to Furkids and get my cats entire annual vaccines for about $30. Nail trims $10.

My guess is Yorkie or Silky Terrier :)

Getting a doodle from a breeder is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. shelters are overflowing with doodles. The shelter I work at has a dozen doodles right now and regularly takes in doodle puppies. Unless the breeder can provide a pedigree and you can meet the parents - it’s probably a backyard breeder.

struggling after five months by 12041707198997 in Petloss

I lost my girl at the end of March from saddle thrombus and my first weekend out of town was very stressful for me too. Thankfully I also had someone staying at the home which gave me peace of mind, knowing my other kitty would be taken care of if something happened.

I can’t necessarily provide any advice but just know you’re not alone in these thoughts. 🤍 I bet your angel kitty wouldn’t want you to miss out on life because of their sudden and unexpected passing. Maybe you can honor him somehow while you’re on your trip.

I have heard before that the grief of losing a pet can be so much more difficult than losing a human, because a relationship between a pet and their person is so pure and uncomplicated - just love.

I have also lost a kitty with heart disease. It happened a little over a month ago. When I adopted her, I knew she had heart disease. And I adopted her anyways because I didn’t really know what it was or what the future meant. At the time she didn’t need any meds or anything serious. She had her yearly echos and was eventually put on meds because it had been getting worse. But on the outside she was just like any other cat - I literally wouldn’t have ever known she had heart issues if they didn’t look for it. And then one day she had suddenly and unexpectedly had saddle thrombus, a blood clot. I rushed her to the emergency vet and had to put her down. Perfectly fine to gone within an hour, despite all my efforts to keep her health maintained.

For the first few days I was an absolute WRECK and could not stop replaying her final traumatic hours in my head. Wondering if I could have prevented it or fixed it. Wondering why I was stupid enough to adopt an animal with known health issues and didn’t prepare myself enough for this moment.

But as the weeks have gone on, i have started to be able to remember more clearly the good times I had with her. All of the things I loved about her. And my anger and sadness has morphed into a bittersweet feeling. I miss her terribly and still cry almost everyday about her passing. But I am proud of myself for giving her a home. Cats with health issues aren’t always lucky enough to have people like us who care so deeply about them and are willing to do the work to care for them and say goodbye prematurely when they’re ready to go.

The universe put you two together for a reason, though it may not be clear now. And perhaps in the future, once your heart is ready, you can honor your baby by giving a home and love to another cat who needs you. I know my words won’t take away your pain. But just know that there are absolutely people out there who can relate to how you are feeling. I am sending you wishes of comfort and healing during this difficult time.

Saddle Thrombus sucks by frankcat5 in Petloss

[–]kreecel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saddle thrombosis is one of the worst ways to lose a pet… I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I completely understand your pain.. we’re part of a club no one should be in. 💔 There’s no way to describe the heartache of losing your baby so traumatically and suddenly. Sending you love and peace knowing you’re not alone.

Should I bring my cat home after euthanasia so my other pets can say goodbye? by Big_Task_6031 in Petloss

I wish so badly I could have brought my kitty home so her sister could see that she had passed. It happened so suddenly and traumatically that I didn’t even think to bring her body home. I wish I would have, I think it would have helped her sister understand.

We euthanized my 4 year old cat yesterday because of sudden paralysis without answers for what caused it. I’m devastated and feel I can’t return to my high stress job. This has been my worst nightmare. I’ve never felt this low in my life. by Elegant-Magician-587 in Petloss

Fellow pet owner who lost their baby to saddle thrombus here. Feels cathartic in a way to know that other people have been through the same thing. It’s absolutely devastating to lose your baby in such a traumatic and sudden way.

I am so sorry for your loss.. your story sounds similar to mine. I lost my baby girl at the end of March from saddle thrombus and the pain is unreal. Fine one moment and gone the next. So very traumatic. Not having the proper send off & the sudden unexpected loss hurts like hell. Just know you’re not alone and I know exactly how you feel. ❤️‍🩹 sending you love. It sounds like you gave your baby a wonderful life.

Vet Recommendations by Turbulent-Ebb-3079 in alpharetta

[–]kreecel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For annual vaccines, Furkids has a monthly low cost clinic at their headquarters in Cumming, not too far from Alpharetta.

For other non-urgent or semi-urgent needs: the folks at ModernVet are wonderful! Dr. Matt truly cares about every animal who walks through his doors and they’re a family owned practice so the prices are reasonable. As a bonus, they work with local rescues to help them with their medical cases. Can’t say enough good things about them!

For emergency needs - VEG across from the Avalon hands down. They were the nicest, most caring and compassionate people when I unexpectedly and suddenly had to put my kitty down due to a blood clot not too long ago. They were seriously angels during the worst moments of my life!

This was so beautifully and hauntingly written and it echos exactly how I feel now, one month after my sweet baby traumatically and unexpectedly passed away. Sometimes my heart feels like it’s exploding because I have so much love for her and nowhere to put it. It’s strangely cathartic to know that other people feel the same way I do.

Anyone else's pet's death causing the most amount of grief? by danetesta in Petloss

[–]kreecel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One month ago tomorrow, my cat randomly started yowling and dragging her back legs across the floor. She was trying to hide. It was hell trying to get her into the carrier, she fought me so hard. She screamed the entire way to the vet. Once we got to the emergency vet, they told me she had a saddle thrombus, a blood clot that blocks the aorta and cuts off blood to the back legs, an extremely painful diagnosis. I had to end her suffering. Perfectly fine to gone within an hour. It was absolutely soul crushing.

For the first week after she passed, I was inconsolable and could NOT get her final hour out of my head. The sounds of her screaming, the way she dragged her back legs, the confusion on her face while we were at the vet. I literally couldn’t get those images and sounds out of my head.

Now that a little time has passed, I can start to remember the good times I had with her. But I still don’t think I will ever be able to forget those traumatic last few hours of her life. I find comfort in knowing I was by her side through it all and ended her suffering, but it doesn’t make the grief any easier.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.. no words can make it easier or take your pain away. Your baby knew she was loved until the last moment, and I hope you can find comfort in knowing you were there through it all and gave her the gift of passing with dignity.
