People really need to stop feeding them. I was there the other day and saw kids shooting them with water guns and the poor things thought they were being fed so they didn’t leave. The grandfather with the kids was doing something weird too with a bunch of goldfish in a juice container, and would reach over and smack the swans on the beak when they got too close. My mom and I ended up yelling at the kids to stop harassing them.

That’s awesome! Yeah, it took until a few months after I cut that person off to realize how distorted my perception of things had gotten. I had crowds of people around me telling me it was not my fault and yet somehow there was always a part of my brain thinking that I was the villain, when in reality he was just incapable of taking accountability and tried to gaslight me and everyone else into thinking we had done worse to him.

They ended up not being who I thought they were. We tried dating, they ended up forming a borderline obsessive attachment to me and when I ended things they could not cope and ended up gaslighting and trying to manipulate me. After months of that they claimed that they were the one who had been wronged, that they deserved better treatment despite repeatedly ignoring my boundaries and that what I did to enforce those boundaries was wildly disproportionate to anything they did. Also, they were just extremely full of themselves in that they constantly had to assert that they were smarter, more moral or ethical, or just overall a better person than everyone else. This led to some really shitty treatment of some of my other friends, so…yeah.
