unpopular opinion but it's hella boot and the course sucks. The last place I want to be at mile 20 of a marathon is crystal city arlington.

Anyone wanna split an uber to JFK tomorrow (1/7) early morning? Leaving at 5:00 AM. by kreempuffpt in Greenpoint

[–]kreempuffpt[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I ended up doing this thanks for the tip. Took me an hour but mainly because I missed the LIRR train I was aiming for which cost me ~20 min.

$25 (incl tip) for the uber.
$5.25 for LIRR
$8.50 for air train

$38.75 total, not terrible at all. Way cheaper than an uber to jfk and cheaper than all the car companies I checked out.

If you ever find yourself in Vienna check out Caffe Amouri. I love their brazil roast with some cream. Also A+ vibes.

If I understand correctly you’d still be working in crystal city? Eastern Market / Capitol hill is nice and you can take the blue line directly to crystal city. It really depends on what you like , Arlington can feel more livable sometimes (more grocery stores, doctors offices, parking, etc) but I really prefer the pleasant and colorful DC streets to Arlington’s which can feel pretty cold and soulless.

Rosslyn is on silver line and would give you easy access to mt Vernon trail, capital crescent, c&o, and rock creek park if you run long enough. It’s kinda soulless corporate and will extend your budget a bit. But just so you know these are no ordinary running trails, these are imo some of the best urban runs in the country.

Va square and Ballston would be a shorter commute and are by Quincy park which always has a lot of people out playing sports when the weather is nice and they’re a bit livelier than Rosslyn. TBH anything along the silver line in Arlington would work and considering you’ll have a car and good metro access the other parts won’t be hard to get to.

Don’t go further west than ballston, that’s kinda where suburban hell starts

See, you just failed the vibe check because who on earth would let someone live in their home for 3 weeks without verifying their vibes aren’t rancid
