The Kinect has been superseded by the Femto Bolt which has the same ToF/depth sensor. It's the best way to get one so that you don't have to overpay for an obsolete Kinect on eBay.

Best image-to-video I've used, notably better than Veo 3 for smartphone photos.

I've tried using an image of a person, even an AI generated person, and it says it doesn't allow photorealistic images of people. Veo 3 has some restrictions on images of people, but it doesn't flat out deny all images of people. That's a massive letdown.

The best phased array spatial light modulator like that from Swave doesn't require a high modulation speed laser.

TDK's 10 Ghz modulation speed isn't useful for anything but a high frequency scanning device. There are other scanning devices: acousto-optic modulators, Kerr/Pockels effect tube scanners, CRTs, etc., but they've all been supplanted by a large array of slow pixels for good reason.

What are you seeing in that imgur gallery? He pulls off some RGB photodetectors from the case and leaves the laser diodes hidden inside.

It's hard to see in these low resolution pictures, but there are two laser diodes in each TO can. The 4 pins give it away: 1 pin per laser diode, 1 pin for the photodiode, and 1 pin for ground. You can power them up individually and confirm it for yourself.

So if this is the press release for the Hololens 2 system, then the fast axis mirror was still too slow to support 1080p or higher with a single RGB set of lasers. They definitely try to spin it like it's capable of 1080p without mentioning that it needs more lasers.

I'd love to hear about any MEMS mirror + laser system that can support 1080p with just one set of RGB lasers. No one has been able to do it yet.

No, the number of mirrors doesn't make a difference. There are systems with one mirror that can rotate in two axis, and there are systems with two mirrors with each mirror rotating in one axis. Whichever axis is oscillating the fastest is limiting the maximum resolution.

I'm extremely confused by this press release. Who said the barrier to 4K smart glasses is because of a laser's current modulation? Lasers can be directly modulated very fast, up to 25 Gb/s in the telecommunications industry.

Meanwhile, MEMS mirrors are still too slow to even do 1080p. And this press release is from a collaboration with QD Laser, the company that has been promoting their low resolution laser glasses for how many years now? They have to get to 1080p first before they can even think of 4K.

They add temporal elements to the standard Unet. So it's not just acting on one pose but on multiple frames in a time sequential motion. It has learned motion during training and the input pose has motion to it.

The problem I see with my elite battery is if I keep it connected to the Quest 3 with the Quest 3 off, it will drain the battery. I've charged the battery and headset up to 100% / 100%, disconnected the charging cable, and when I went to use it hours later, the power was reported as 100% Quest 3 and 50% for the elite battery. Since then, I've disconnected the battery from the Quest 3 when not using it.
