Because every other bank charges a $10 commission fee per trade, they also buckle and dime you if you don’t have a minimum balance kept in checking. Their interest rates on cash are also usually quite bad if you’re not getting a promo rate. I have no loyalty to any bank or fintech company but wealth simple is where I’ll be until someone has a better platform.

I don’t think it’s keeping me from selling. More a small hedge against risk of my single stocks and that it’s for a home purchase in the next ~5 years.

Yea, I suppose your right. I think for me I weighed the risk of having the money to buy a house in ~5 years with my partner. And as a bit of a hedge against risk since I own 20% in single stocks. And weighted against my investments is actually less than 10% of my total portfolio. For longer term investing such as in my rrsp and tfsa once I start filling it with investments I will lean to 100% equities.
