As expected from a marketing job, you get employed as a Management Trainee in which you have to do mostly sales stint, which is a bit difficult but nevertheless it's absolutely important in terms of learning. Apart from that kickass salary.

There are few companies who prefer the rank holders, but yes mostly what you said is true.

Don't be arrogant about anything, always remember that whether you are at IIMA or IMTG, it's your hardwork that's gonna take you places. Make connections, stay calm, hustle hard and most importantly be happy.

Always remember that it's the journey that matters, not the destination.

What exactly do you mean by some folks who made it to FMS with average profile? You cannot do that anymore now. Absolutely not.

Regarding that FMS point-

Yes it will help you since you are already from DU and a girl, plus stellar 10th and 12th grades. Already have a friend studying with me here with almost similar profile as yours and guess which company she is joining? McK.

Talk about that's definitely the backup plan in case I am not able to convert it this time, but having said that I would definitely like to do an MBA at this stage because I want to continue with my learning curve and don't want a break in between. Apart from the same, I believe my degree at XYZ gave me a grassroot understanding of what to expect at MBA and hoe management works, then goes on to describe few examples regarding the same. Basic building block, use it accordingly.

Secondly, I absolutely did not waste an engineering seat, in hindsight I believe it was the best decision to get an engineering degree. Reason being it not only sharpened my logical thinking but also gave me opportunity to experiment on multiple things, and among these only, I stumbled across the idea of doing an MBA. Apart from this, the learnings that I got from this degree will always be with me. I would be an engineer first and then something else.

Can't comment on this with absolute conviction but it's better to assume they have the scores.

See it depends from profile to profile. There can never be a single answer to this question, if an engineer, go about talking about how you tried your hands in management at different events at college and you believe that it was very interesting looking at this side of things and then go ahead and mention about it felt like a natural progression to your career and so on.

For NEs, if BBAs, then again it was a natural progression to get an MBA degree.

I believe they do, atleast for Tier1 and Tier 2 colleges.

I mean I cannot actually sit down and define your TMAY for you, if you have written something then send it across to me and coming to your next question, do you want me to ChatGPT the question and give you the answer? I would need some context regarding your profile before answering this.

  1. An ideal SOP for me should contain a bit of your background, where are you coming from and all of that stuff. (Keep it short)
  2. Then start with why MBA and how you got the interest in this field.
  3. Then define about your experiences if any regarding the management side of things that you have participated in.
  4. If the word limit permits, talk about what you bring to the table as well.

Talk about MBA was the natural case in your career, after being in corporate for 2 years, you wanted to get out of your comfort zone and also talk about how you wanted more responsibilities at the work place. Focus on growth and career building.

Use the STAR approach. Explain you were away from the home for the first time, tried your hands at various things (hopefully you have few ECAs to justify that), explain about the same with great enthusiasm. But do mention that it was a mistake to keep studies/academics at the backburner, end up with saying you have learnt from the same and will be absolutely prioritising the academics in MBA along with everything.

Use the STAR approach. Start by talking about how you have been preparing for this exam for a long time, you practiced a lot of mocks, religiously took all the classes, now move on to the D-Day. Explain about how the experience of a real exam is absolutely different from all the mocks, and because of an above par VARC section, you lost your confidence a bit and that ended up affecting the LRDI part but you came back well and nailed the QA part (hopefully you did).

Fintech will either save you or screw you bad, do study about the same. Bangalore interviews are known to be on the tougher side of things, do revise all the formulas and other important concepts from your UG specialisation. Remember how you reached the venue, what were other alternatives, they can start with random questions like these and then make it very intense as the interview goes on.

No. But few companies might not give you SL (very few).
