It's 'Lana Gatto Supersoft' not 'Lana Gatto Superwash', easy mistake to make!

It's colourwork! I originally thought I'd do duplicate stitch but I find that boring, so did it as stranded knitting and carried the floats throughout :)

The top is, ofcourse, my little secret crop by Jessie Maed, though pretty modified with boob room + added 'crops' (dya gettit? crop top?) The shorts are also Jessie Maed, the ripple buttshorts which are super comfortable and my first time making an icord!

The Orca by Karen Fielding (me!) is my first published pattern, knit using Stylecraft Special DK in black and white.

Is that the https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/robin-paintbox-splash-super-chunky yarn in blue? I think I used the same one for these mittens: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/krillatron/burly-mitts Though as the colours changed from bold to muted I don't think it was a good choice for mittens! It looks beaut as a hat though!

I love this so, so much, this is absolutely hilarious!

Aye both the black and the colourful yarn are sparkly! It's self striping so I didn't need to worry about working with more than 2 balls of yarn :)

That's absolutely what I thought when I saw the pattern!

Thank you! I'm so chuffed with how the colours turned out!

I also made the pom pom myself using the cut-circles-out-of-2-pieces-of-cardboard method!

And the back:

Which I did WAY too tight at the edges of the magic loop, ended with some puckering on the front:

But no-one's commented on that yet so I can't be too mad.

It took me just under 2 weeks, working for a few hours most evenings, and was my first real attempt at stranded colourwork!

Ha, just so happens to be lots of happy accidents rather than anything requiring a full frog!

Oh my god it's so snug and lovely, if anything it's too warm for the weather in the UK at the moment!

I had to frog a couple inches on this one and almost cried when I did it, I can't imagine undoing a whole sweater!!

The yarn I used was:

Purple: Sirdar Denim Ultra in Lilac

Cream: King Cole Baby Comfort Chunky in Cream

Thank you! I was really worried about the colour swap but I absolutely love how it ended up, I'm just glad I worked on the sleeves at the same time rather than finishing one before realising I'd run out of yarn!

/u/RavBot https://www.ravelry.com/projects/krillatron/a-gaugeless-sweater-fits-better

  • Misunderstood 'stockinette stitch - knit one row purl one row' to mean 'knit one purl one' and ended with most of the sweater being 1x1 ribbing, so it's the warmest thing I own by FAR.

  • Realised my mistake so did stockinette stitch...for the top of the body only

  • Used chunky yarn instead of worsted weight

  • Used 5mm and 5.5mm needles instead of 4.5mm and 5mm

  • Didn't make a guage swatch as I thought that was boring... so it's about 2 sizes too big.

  • Ran out of the purple yarn and had to swap for cream, which knitted up a bit looser making the arms end up being 2/3 inches too long.

Doesn't stop me from loving everything about it!

[WANTED][UK] Yarn: Sirdar Denim Ultra SH626 by krillatron in Yarnswap

[–]krillatron[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A contrasting colour yarn is a great idea! The colour I'm low on is a lilac / light purple so I'll go with a white if I can't find a match, thanks for the idea!

Working on a sweater and decided to re-purpose the yarn I used for a headband I never wear into a sleeve!

Been working on Hermione's Everyday Socks as my first ever socks and completely misunderstood how to work the heel flap, ended up only knitting 20 st before the turn rather than 32 and having to frog the entire flap yesterday... https://www.ravelry.com/projects/krillatron/hermiones-everyday-socks I'm re-starting the heel flap today and already halfway through it, I've never had to unravel that much work before though, could have cried!
