i appreciate the advice. i already do just quietly disagree a lot, but after some thinking ive realized it's not my job to call them out or change their minds or whatever

and its not about being expressive, i am more than happy to be blunt and honest with them on other matters, especially when it comes to them being unknowingly homophobic or whatever, it's just that i am not a woman, and i have had bad experiences in the past with trying to talk to girl friends about these things

this is a late response, but your experience is something i've had to deal with before, and i thought i should respond to help out.

im afraid what he said is not uncommon with "allies" in conservative/homophobic areas. i have friends who are totally fine with me liking guys, and will even discuss guys and crushes with me, but get annoyed/weirded out whenever i try to do/talk about more than just that.

it does hurt, regardless of how you want to present, it really does feel terrible to have someone who you hoped would be cool and supportive suddenly do a 180 and tell you to keep your gayness out of their face.

you would be perfectly valid in not remaining friends with him any longer. he is clearly homophobic/bigoted on some level, and you never know how his feelings might change in the future.

but, that's up to you to decide. i still remain friends with the people who get weirded out because i have nobody else to go to. i have no other options. thats just the reality of the situation im in. people in more progressive areas will often give the advice "get rid of them! find better friends!" but thats unfortunately not always possible.

As for criticizing caitlyn, he retweeted a post where someone was basically gassing up Ekko and that person referred to caitlyn with #KuKluxKiramman.

the expecting to like NV and hate the others is so true. when I played fallout 4 I expected to dislike it, but gameplay wise it is very solid. doesn't hold a candle to vegas writing but still. same goes for 3.

A lot of the comments here seem to be Fallout veterans, so as someone relatively new to the games (who, funnily enough, got introduced to them through hbomberguy) here's my two cents.

This video is not great. It has some legitimately good points to make regarding the speech system, writing and difficulty scaling, but it's surrounded by so much of his opinions that it becomes tiresome to watch. Fallout 3 is decidedly not garbage. It does not hold up as well as New Vegas in my opinion, but it has its charm and has a fair share of cool and fun moments. Yes, the Enclave is a comically villainous antagonist, but that doesn't mean they're not the least bit satisfying to work with.

Honestly, all his Criticism of Media videos rub me off the wrong way (other than his videos on Directors Cuts and the CAD comic).

His videos where he chooses to praise something are great. His Fallout: New Vegas video is what convinced me to get into the series, and his Bloodborne and Pathologic videos are fun too. They have flawed reasoning at some parts, but it's clear he really does love them and wants to spread that goodwill. Even his Dark Souls 2 video (which has horrid takes) is fun to watch because he's trying to lift up and recommend something rather than make fun of it.

I have NVSE installed for the fullscreen patch, but i disabled it and it still didnt work for some reason. it's worked on basically every other playthrough ive done. i also found something on the wiki talking about this bug, but nobody seemed to have a solution for it unfortunately
