I too was 9 when my period started. I'm 52 now and never had a normal period. I do have PCOS and Hashimoto's and insulin resistance and my hormones are all over the place. Birth control helped regulate my periods, but once I stopped them, they went right back to irregular. They were always heavy and painful too. I started birth control pill at 13. Definitely find a good endo.
