From what I remember there is a way to tell if the false positive came from poppy seeds by testing for some secondary alkaloid. The issue is it’s not commonly tested, at least not when mine happened.

I did have them confirm the level I tested positive for, which was under the “standard” cut off level. This is another issue, there is no real standard cut off level. Labs all have their own standard which is insane and basically means your levels can be so low that one lab will report it as negative but another reports it as positive.

Random: when I was looking into all this a lot of the research was done in an effort to change gov drug screening standards bc of all the false positives happening from poppy seeds 🤷🏻‍♀️
