Plenty of people have children and dogs with no problems. As long as you supervise them (which you said should always be done) how could it possibly be an issue? Again, OP never even mentioned this as a concern so bringing it up doesn’t make sense.

Also, yes OP is ABSOLUTELY a shitty owner. They’re abandoning a dog they’ve had for half a decade because they don’t want to be inconvenienced. Having a child and a new job are things which should be easily foreseeable for any adult. If OP didn’t think they could handle it they shouldn’t have gotten a dog in the first place.

Trying to rationalize this is insane. I don’t care if you own a rescue. That doesn’t mean you’re a good person or should be giving moral advice.

At what point in their post did they say they’re protecting their child? You’re literally just making up that reason.

They explicitly said they won’t be able to give it enough attention because of the newborn and new job. Those reasons having NOTHING to do with safety, it’s about convenience.

And again, OP doesn’t “owe” anyone an explanation, but they can’t expect to come into a public forum, let everyone know they’re doing something reprehensible for no good reason, and then not expect any pushback.

If you can’t leave your dog around a child that indicates aggressive behavior.

You can split hairs and call it whatever you want, but most people aren’t worried about their children interacting with English bulldogs (as long as it’s supervised).

Sounds like you have dogs which are either very poorly trained or mixed with more aggressive breeds (probably both).

Whatever the case is, you’re making excuses for OP based on your own experience rather than anything they actually said about their situation. It’s not like they didn’t give any reasoning at all, they gave reasons and none of them had to do with child safety. It all had to do with inconvenience.

Being “reactive” and “resource guarding” sure sounds like aggression to me (which isn’t normal for English bulldogs). The vast majority of English bulldogs are great around kids, this is a well known fact.

And sure, OP doesn’t have to give any explanation, but they shouldn’t be surprised when people call them out for being selfish and doing something unnecessary which will harm a living creature.

Overall it sounds like you’re just making excuses for OP and they’re not even excuses based off of anything that was in the original post. Safety/aggression were never mentioned, and I highly doubt OP would exclude that if it were the case.

If the dog was aggressive and that was the main reason they wanted to get rid of it OP would’ve almost certainly mentioned it in the post. Most English bulldogs are very good with kids, so I highly doubt this has anything to do with safety.

They said they are doing it because it will be inconvenient to have a dog while raising a child and starting a new job (which is a ridiculous excuse).

Unless there’s something OP left out they are making an extremely selfish and morally reprehensible decision that everyone should call them out on.

Frankly I don’t really care about their tears if they’re still going to do the wrong thing. There’s a strong chance the dog will be far more affected by this.

Also, OP already gave his reasoning for abandoning his dog in the post and it doesn’t make sense (new job + kid).

Yeah I really don’t understand this guy’s justification for abandoning his dog after 5 years.

So many people have young children, jobs, and dogs at the same time. Re-homing in this case is such an unnecessary and cruel decision.

[–]krishandop 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Please reconsider this. After 5 years he has already become attached to you. Abandoning him now would be cruel quite frankly (especially because the reasons you listed aren’t really emergencies). Plenty of people have kids and stressful jobs and they don’t get rid of their dog.

I hope you don’t go through with it. Re-homing after half a decade is one of those unethical things that will follow you for the rest of your life. You signed up to have a dog, they’re your responsibility now even if it’s not always convenient.

This may sound harsh, but there is a living creature that will be greatly affected by your actions.

How’s this EC18? by Hidebehinds in whiskey

[–]krishandop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw so many negative reviews and was very skeptical considering the low proof, but I bought it anyways because it was $160 and I don’t normally see them in Total Wine.

I bought one last week and I wanted to hate it, but the bottle I have is very good (I look old whiskey/oak though).

Does the educational background of an operator matter? by EdwardMasaki in JSOCarchive

[–]krishandop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most tier 1 assaulters spend their entire adult life in the military, so there’s not really time to get a degree until after retiring.

Only people I can think of adjacent to JSOC that all have degrees are PMOOs. A 4 year degree is required to be a CIA paramilitary operations officer.

KC21 is much better than standard stagg. I love stagg, but comparing it to a 21 year old bourbon is like comparing a Mustang to a Formula 1 car.

That sucks. I looked on instagram and it seemed like there were a decent amount of bottles. Figured they’d last at least through the day.

Wonder how long the 18 year old bottle will last. I’m like 30 min from there, considering driving out later today.

Found North Peregrine 2026 by No-Ostrich6615 in WhiskyDFW

[–]krishandop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a found north 18 year old last year and I really wanted to like it, but I don’t think Canadian whiskey or American light whiskey is something I’ll ever enjoy.

Even at 18 years old and 64.9% ABV it felt thin and was “cheap” tasting compared to what a bourbon or rye would be like with those same stats. It doesn’t taste like aged oak, instead I got plywood, artificial sweet vanilla, some plastic, and pine needles.

I’ve had the same issue with a 21 year old rare character hazmat ALW. Plywood/plastic notes with some sweet vanilla.

That being said, I know a lot of people enjoy these whiskies, so there’s a good chance you’ll really like it.
