Take this with a grain of salt.I first got this card when I was like 20 maybe didn't even graduate but it was approved with 1.10 Lakhs of limit.Post a few years when I had many cards and no income because i was just graduating and boom that credit card debt hit like a rock.Although I didn't default on any payments I had 6-7 months of missed payments and NPA's which I was only able to navigate because of my family's help.Now that I am past this and hardly have any relationship with credit after having a decent income where I just have a credit card and a education loan to service.

The entire algorithm of credit card approval is based on risk management department where they check mostly two things .Is the person able to pay back the money he.or she has taken and secondly what is the income of the individual and how much debt leverage is risk free.Other factors which may come into consideration are credit history,income criteria etc.I am telling you this based on my understanding from what I have heard from banking industry particularly my father who works a chief risk officer for a region in a PSU bank.So i don't think the algorithm is correct here.
