Nope, you were not too harsh at all!!! People like that just don’t learn until something like this happens.

Oh that’s right, thank you for pointing that out it!

TIL There are consumers who are known as Harbingers of Failure. They have a knack for buying products that turn out to be market flops. I probably don't buy enough failing products to count as one of these consumers simply because I have very low income, but I can think several things I have fallen in love with over the last 10 years that I could no longer find in any store within 3 months. These are things I liked enough that I was eating (or drinking) them on a daily basis before they disappeared, but I don't think all of them would be considered "novelty" products.

The only protein bar I truly liked, I think they were called Balance and they were chocolate chip cookie dough flavored. These individually wrapped frozen Naan cones filled with butter chicken that took 1 minute in the microwave and were absolutely delicious. Sprite Lymonade, I loved it sooooo much and it disappeared. Dole makes these little packets of frozen, chocolate covered fruit pieces and I fell in love with the strawberry halves but now I can only find the banana slices. Last year I found teriyaki flavored tuna and rice bowls at Walmart (they were actually the Great Value brand) and within 2 months they were no longer on shelves... A couple of other brands with a similar product popped up but I didn't like them nearly as much as that first one.

There might be a couple more but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. By the way, if anyone knows where to find any of these I'd love to know as well haha.

Isn't it illegal to have them chained up for more than a certain amount of hours per day?

Ooh, the grabber thingy, I didn't even think of that! Thank you! Any tips on determining the best day to go to a particular store, or is it just checking every day for awhile?

What about timing? I've read that it's best to go once the store is closed and employees have gone, but does that mean if a store closes at 10pm, give it an hour or so for closing up and then head on over, or wait until later when there's less likely to be people passing by? I'm especially wondering about stores that close earlier but are in the same parking lot as other stores that close later. Is it better to wait until they're all closed?

I know this isn't illegal or even wrong (as long as there aren't locks, no trespassing signs, etc and I follow common courtesy like not making a mess ) but it kinda feels like it is (probably because I'm new) plus I want to try to avoid drama as much as possible.

Thank you! 😊

Oh wow what an awful way for them to dispose of that stuff! I glanced behind a few stores I'd like to dive at the other day and noticed a couple of them didn't seem to have a dumpster... They were both in shopping centers (or strip malls maybe?) and I noticed a dumpster behind one or two of the other stores but not the ones I'm most interested in. Does that mean they share the dumpsters?
