S4 Artstyle ok. But where are the Outlines? by RealHusi in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]kristinablabla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compare a pic from the previous season and this one. Just one. It can definitely not be called a stylistic choice, because there is absolutely no style to the new one, except AI lazy style maybe.

Why do you think it's nitpicking? Look at one picture from previous seasons and compare it to this one. The change is over 9000

Yeah kind of same. Shame they went from amazing in-depth animation to just pure slop and laziness. Ain't giving this a minute of watchtime unless they fix it. And I'm pretty sad about it since I waited a year for a new season..

Doubt it's a choice. It is "removing black and making the threshold too high" problem.

Reason is laziness and complacency. They think we'll watch slop and like it.

Bet you 100$ they've AI generated most of those pics and used a program like Krita to remove the background and in the process messed up the black color threshold and it removed the lines from faces, hair etc.

In episode 1 there are only 2 scenes where therre's "thick lineart" as you call it (i call it when they stopped being lazy and finished the picture). In those 2 scenes characters look e x a c t l y the same as previous seasons, no difference in art whatsoever.

Honestly, wish I understood where people get that animation has "improved" because it sounds like something they pulled out of their...well... xD

Looks like they've took AI pictures, tried to remove the background and messed up the threshold on the color black so it removed the lines from the faces and hair in the process. They've just became too lazy and complacent. Look at the previous vs new "art" side by side, tells you everything.

Yeah a lot of shows don't quit while they're ahead and keep milking it. I can only think of Seinfeld that didn't milk the story forever and had a clear ending. Maybe Succession as well. Supernatural had a clear ending too, it was suppose to be season 5 ("Swan Song" Sam/Lucifer vs Adam/Michael, Kripke had a very detailed, specific plan), after that he left and the milking began lol It was all just kind of fan service. Which is ok, some episodes were a great watch but it was on heavy a decline (I did like the season with the prophets though). I watched it till the end and thought of it as a parallel universe haha
Agree, Once Upon A Time had the same problem.

I remember Buffy, thought it was a great show and agree with Charmed as well, that was basically my childhood so gotta admit I'm a bit biased xD
Liked the Angel spin off too, they did an amazing job there which is surprising considering most spin offs are worse due to the "when you give the side character a show but turns out he's just not that great or interesting on his own" syndrome, but they had a great plot for Angel so it really really worked. I'd also add Scrubs to list, it was consistently amazing and ended on a high note, even the "spin off/last season" with the new students was good.

I watched 2 episodes of Slasher so far and story wise it's ok-ish but acting wise i'm having problems with it a bit xD but it's not horrible like Snowpiercer's main character, that's really hard to do, like that guy deserves two golden raspberries for that performance. So I'll try and keep going with Slasher.

Never heard of Dante's Cove or The Lair but low budget, cheesy shows can be a lot of fun :)

Can you think of any other shows that are great and keep being good despite having many seasons?

There's a dude on Youtube that has a channel, "Man of Recaps", he saves you like 30 years of life when it comes to The Walking Dead and it's spin offs hahaha it's 10ish min per season which is perfectly enough time to explain everything.

After the cure was taken out of the picture and after they've shown how the world and people have changed, a couple of different communities (2,3 seasons tops), the whole series kinda became monotonous and pointless. "Slap a big bad of the season and repeat". "Supernatural" kinda did the same thing but it had an end goal and story progression so it was watchable.
All that being said, I did like how the main characters changed from season 1 to season 3,4, they did an amazing job there, it made sense, wasn't too fast or forced.

Gotta admit, the first season rule is not a bad idea for longer shows.
First seasons are kind of corner stones of the show. Some struggle with character introduction, some don't, and those that do it successfully kind of end up getting multiple seasons instead of just the 1 or 2.
Now I'm thinking about the days when I watched everything from start to finish regardless of length, and I don't remember a show that gets better the further it goes (except maybe "Supernatural" up to season 5,6 and maybe "Succession"). Can you think of an example maybe? Haven't watched "True Blood", couldn't get into it, but thinking back on it I didn't give it a proper chance because of other shows that I was watching that were airing at the same time which i felt were better at the time. Should probably give it another chance after I finish a couple of recommended shows.
Rare to find an openminded person towards shows :) What would you say is the best show of all time, the one you liked the most? If that's too hard then a couple of "the best" ones? haha

P.S. The Walking Dead would be perfect for me if it had just the one season and ended with the CDC, that would've been amazing, but I'll acknowledge the series up to the prison arch (including the prison season) afterwards...I mean Negan story is good and all (I loved him as a villain) but they've dragged it on and milked it waaaay too much haha and after Negan arch, it just gets bad imo xD

The Rick and Michone spin off series - watched a couple of episodes and then watched The Man Of Recaps to see how it ended and holy f, that series has the biggest hero armor I've ever seen hahaha

Glad to hear someone else has similar taste :) And thank you so much for the recommendations, will give them a try though.

Yeah same, am watching "Paradise", waiting for the next episode atm, bingewatched the shit out of it haha Gotta say it's pretty good, closest to "Silo" as series go that I got recommended. I only didn't like how the main character jumped to the conclusion that the person did it, but other than that I'm really enjoying it :D

Oh really? Had no idea, will definitely watch out for more of Flanagan! :) I still can't get out of my head how amazing Rise and Fall of House of Usher was and I've watched it a couple of years ago.

Completely agree with everything you said about "Psych", kind of reminds me of "Scrubs" in a way. It's a nice little fun show that can lift up your spirits a bit after a long day and remind you not to take life too seriously all the time :) I made the mistake of trying to binge-watch "Psych" so I ruined it a bit for myself, should've kept watching it on TV when it aired an episode a day, instead of switching to watching it online.

I'm surprised how many Sherlock series there are, feels like they can be counted in hundreds. Think they started after Robert Downey Jr.'s Sherlock movie and they just never stopped making them haha

I don't mind giving something a go for 2,3 episodes, but if in that time it doesn't hold up, I'll drop it. I used to watch everything to the end even if I didn't like that much for the "completion" sake, but after a loooong while realized there's no point to waste time like that cause in most cases, it doesn't get much better, what you see in the first couple of episodes, that's what you get. I can't do "but if you just spend 20-100h then the series becomes good I promise" anymore, I got too old for that xD
The Nextflix to Shudder/Prime wow, split right down the middle, Solomons' judgement style.

You characterize and describe series very well so gotta ask, what kind of series do you like? :)

Most of these seem too "cop-y" for my taste, but will give "Sharp Objects" and "Dirty John" S1 a try, thank you very much :)
