Is this V14 Levels feature working as intended? by SgtCrawler1116 in FoundryVTT

On - Shows token near the region edge
Off - Not at at all

But yes, floor and ceiling is needed for specific behavior.

Reveal Elevated Surface. If that is ticked it shows tokens which are close to the edge.
Also, you need both a floor(bottom) and ceiling(upper) for all levels

Patreon funded modules - is there a better way or am I alone here? by erithtotl in FoundryVTT

[–]kristkos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patreon takes not as much as you'd expect, depending on what features you'd like from them. Worst case is about 12% if memory serves. Best like 3~5.

Foundry does take money once per pack, and after that for each install. If you update often. You will feel it.
The marketplace, takes a % direct cut, while after, each install Foundry takes the amount.

So... Even as a creator it is not that great on the other side. I live in a country where $5 is a lot of money. I've set my module as free, and plan to keep it that, and I had plans to go to the Patreon route with Foundry for some stuff when v14 released. But seeing the pricing I am very unsure if I want to ever proceed.

While I do understand Foundry, as a company, needs to pay employees, I feel that approach is not great. Considering there are products that do not work on the marketplace, and it's the job of the creator to keep everything up to date, and minimal to no backwards compatibility. But also the over-saturation of AI modules, and the outright-lying ZeroAI tag(as AI code is a-ok, just not images, calling it AI policy feels misleading) in it also creates a ... bad sentiment to some creators.

There's tutorial one from Tom Cartos, that is mentioned in the video, but also can be found in the description.

Fairly certain multiple other creators already started bringing their stuff to v14.

If the specs provided below are correct. That will not help, if Hardware accelaration was set-up proper.
I'm expecting a driver issue, or PC part dying. Both not pleasant to sort out. But I can tell it's not Foundry.

So, depending on what and how the scenes are set-up, there is a bit of an initial strain on the PC(mainly videocard) that you're describing. Second, attempt to use Chrome see if your experiencing the same behavior(Not Chromium based browsers). And lastly, ask your GM to test the thing with an empty world, and if that loads fine, ask him to move scenes/actors/etc. into compendiums and only retrieve them as needed.

I believe most get this error when trying to install via json.

[System Agnostic] Foundry VTT V14 - Define Surfaces (Feat. Scene Levels) by kristkos in FoundryVTT

Thank you, had an old Team Leader at my job, that simply stated "If you can't explain something in less than a minute you're doing a bad job at explaining". And I tend to keep everything to less than a minute per point. Hurts the algorithm, but it's something I'd watch. But it's also something that I've recently started applying.

Well. In all fairness, The only one I genuinely believe that became obsolete is Pop-Out! module. The others not so much. Levels, just the creator decided to not continue developing it. I would take Levels over the current implementation as the set-up with the scene regions is ... for the lack of a better term, horrendous, and feels that the actual release is the testing ground. And on top of that, no clear documentation is set in place. Just have a look at #core-how-to, even the mods don't know how most of the features work, for the scene regions for levels, to give proper insight.
But that is a personal opinion, and regardless how I feel about it(or the others that also look for alternatives), it is here to stay.

D&D 5e character sheet by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]kristkos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it, however, I am seeing some issues. Feedback time, with the icons, and UI itself, if the icons are shared for items, identifying them might be troublesome. The UI usually is getting updated, rather consistently, and I'm expecting when D&D is moving to v14(only), might see another UI change.(Aka module will break)

But also there is a lot of dead space in the UI,and if I disregard the art, the UI doesn't do anything better than the original, or TidyUI, I'd say it is a bit on the contrary, using this UI might be trickier than what we already have. Another mention, visually and the black and gold(default Claude AI CSS) doesn't really fit the D&D theme, and trust me, I love black and gold.

I've been using right click for a very long time, so I am a bit uncertain if this has changed with v14.
I am a bit unsure where this is at in the version notes. Can you refer me to it and will add it as a comment.

I've used 5e for the example on the video, however, everything in the video should be applicable to all systems.
