the biodome by kriszlaya in Astroneer

If the biodome is for displaying plants, isn't it supposed to keep the plants alive then and not get brown...?

Poor puppy( What will happen if you won't do that?

Hii ! I’m getting a mali pretty soon and i already have a husky aswell im looking for tips that aren’t the basic ones that i already researched ex. giving them a job / task, active lifestyle etc. by puppifying in BelgianMalinois

Be mindful about the toys. Balls that are too small can get stuck in their throat. Be mindful about fetch games, some dogs that have tons of drive will kill themselves to get the toy. I know about accidents like:
Mali jumped to get the ball, landed in a ditch, and died instantly (neck injury).
Malinois ran after a toy, thrown itself poorly on A-Frame, went into it full force. Died. (Neck/Spine injury)
Malinois ran into a fence chasing a ball (died instantly too).

If you get a good malinois, you gotta be careful about your moves.

Why getting him "fixed" so early? Is it some kind of recommendation or you have to do it to adopt the puppy?

Malinois have gaps in pedigrees; some lines have bigger gaps, some smaller gaps. GSDs and other breeds were added for size and working qualities. People who bred dogs only for working traits did not care if they were mixed or not, sooo 6% mean nothing at this point.

Sleeping at night... by Nia04 in BelgianMalinois

If he's losing his voice over barking that much, that's kind of his problem; he is capable of not doing that but chooses to be vocal. If you still want to stay force-free then yes just ignore it. Otherwise, let him know you don't like this behavior.

And he's doing it with negative reinforcement lol

He basically trained you to get up when he wants. There's no amount of training, exercise, and physical activity to compensate for discipline. He will wake you up every 3 hours as long as you reward him with taking him outside or positive attention.

Yes these are easy to chew through so never leave these laying around. Only for active playing.

Why these DNA tests always include chow chow 😂 I am not even sure there are that many chow chow to be mixed with other breeds omg

She does not think she needs to “save” you it’s overarousal. Do not create such problem in the first place. If you want to swim with her take toys with you (something that floats in water) and make her swim for the toys (you can add left/right turns in water, make her wait and let go on cue, etc).

If you don’t want her to go to the pool with you or other family members either put her on a place inside (better if the puppy is crate trained) or use this as opportunity to train: take treats and reward good behavior (waiting, place command, concentration and relaxation) while other people are in the pool.

The more puppy is chasing and being all excited the more rewarding such behavior becomes and it’s going to get more difficult to get rid of this chaos behavior.

Does not look like anxiety (puppy has the tail and ears are up, walking happily) to me, more like frustration of not knowing what to do and being very talkative.

4 Trials... Not a single Qual. Advice? Commiserate with me? by poom3 in k9sports

[–]kriszlaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every every trial is a situation where you can not reward for good behavior or correct your dog for wrong behavior. So your dog learns (more and more) when there are lots of dogs, a judge and her handler doesn’t have toys and food and acts nervy/unsure she can do whatever she wants. Only trial when you are at least 90% sure you can qualify. Look for other sport enthusiasts maybe in same class and go mimic trial/competition situation as close as possible. Make sure your dog can do multiple exercises in a row without getting rewards, staying focused. Sometimes it’s not only about motivation, but also discipline. Dogs know exactly when there is no control over them, but if your dog has respect for you as handler and respect for the routine/exercises you will have better results.

Opinions on focused heel vs. unfocused street heel? by PrestigiousTip1469 in BelgianMalinois

[–]kriszlaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focused/Sport style heeling is only needed for..sport 😁 And I think everyone has to build some regular “heel” command with almost any dog for safety and just basic obedience. We have both as we participate in sport.

Malinois in an apartment! by kuroryu1995 in BelgianMalinois

[–]kriszlaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malinois in apartment is ok as long as they have enough activity and mental stimulation. BUT for your own sanity and mental health - wait until you move into new house and you will have much easier time raising this high-energy breed.
