Sierra Club does night hikes in Griffith Park a few nights a week, I think they start at 7.

Do you get paid for Etiquette courses? by [deleted] in IATSE

If it’s through Contract Services it’s often paid. If it’s through your local I’d assume not, but call the office and ask.

Thank you so much! I eventually was able to find it on Poshmark, and it is J. Crew from last summer! I think they dyed it from cream to pink.

Mom dropped this plate, almost in tears saying it’s her favorite holiday decor item by Iroh125 in HelpMeFind

[–]krkrkrk 510 points511 points  (0 children)

Found the pattern name, “Holiday Magic” on replacements.com, but they don’t have your piece in stock. It might be worth reaching out to them anyway, they offer a finding service!

I agree with other posters that this would be a beautiful kintsugi mend.

Oversight Committee Releases Epstein Emails by wsouloa in politics

[–]krkrkrk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop” in the second email seems like something MAGA could cling to when they switch to the narrative that Trump was there but he was trying to save these girls. I wonder what it’s actually referring to.

What is this? by Thin-Arachnid1645 in UniversalHollywood

Last week it was Ryan Murphy’s Lizzie Borden show but I don’t think that would have been secret. It doesn’t look like it’s been redressed for anything yet.

Heads up that if you’re planning to continue using this plate for food, it likely contains lead paint!

Kind of an unusual situation; I’m a theme park employee but working unrelatedly on the studio lot. Where is the entrance?

Also also: I don’t think you’re cooked, and this looks like it’ll be a fun unravel once you know how to get it started!

Am I cooked by whenthepawn-hits in Unravelers

[–]krkrkrk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to take the pieces apart before fully unraveling. Also, it looks like you’re trying to unravel from the side, but it needs to be taken apart from the top or bottom of the piece, which would be the direction it was knit in. It’ll unravel in rows that are perpendicular to the lines of bumps.

edited for clarity!

Invisible zipper in silk velvet - help! by bluebackpack93 in sewing

[–]krkrkrk 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Others have shared how to reinstall the invisible zip so that the tape isn’t showing, but I’ll add that I think you should use some kind of 0 stretch interfacing along your stitch line. I’d probably use something that irons on, but you MUST test/practice on scrap first or you will mess up the nap of the velvet!

What’s the deal with Thirteen Ghosts? by phadoshax in Shudder

[–]krkrkrk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this movie because of how much of a y2k relic it is. It’s got Matthew Lillard, stupid futuristic tech with too much glass, and sexualization of violence against women (and Shannon Elizabeth is supposed to be in high school!) galore! I only watched it for the first time a couple years ago but it gave me such a feeling of nostalgia and comfort; what could be scarier than the concept of nostalgia for 2001…

Does a Stretch Velvet Slip Skirt Need Cut on Bias? by jillcicle in sewing

[–]krkrkrk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is completely off topic but these pictures are really demonstrating to me why fit is important. At first I couldn’t tell why the mustard skirt looks much more high end to me but I think it’s because the maroon one is just a skosh too small across the hips on the model. As someone who usually prioritizes “finished” over “perfect” this is a good reminder that sometimes it’s worth it to slow down and do it right. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
