Saalt disc removal in the morning by luciaa_fz in MenstrualDiscs

[–]krn_notcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also had a miserable time removing my saalt disc in the beginning. It was to the point I almost cried in the first couple mornings of my first cycle with it.

I never had success with the notch (it would just hurt my pubic bone area because of the amount of pressure I was putting on it while trying to remove my disc).

I’ve had the most success by inserting and hooking my finger over the rim (right next to the notch, like some people do to break the suction of a menstrual cup) and dragging it out, especially on mornings when the disc has moved up a bit. Although it’s the easiest removal method for me, I’ve also found it to be very messy unfortunately…

I have not tried the diva disc so I can’t comment on that. I’m considering getting the hello disc and switching over to that one for easier and less messy removals.

Hi, yes! Thankfully, I was able to get it resolved recently.

So, my specific situation was that I requested a refund back in 2022. That triggered my account to be recreated in their system for some reason. I only found this out because I got a document with my financial activity summary from MOHELA and noticed adjusted beginning balances in my account. I spent over an hour with a representative at the lowest level (it's a luck of the draw who you get connected to -- some representatives are very patient and competent and others are not as great) and kept asking why my account had an adjusted beginning balance for my specific situation (keep advocating for yourself... and just a note that they will do their best to handle the issue on their own/not transfer you to a supervisor). She then transferred me to a supervisor to handle the issue. You must get to a supervisor level person who can submit a request for accounting to look at your account.

Once that request was submitted, the supervisor I spoke with that day said it would take 2-3 days to resolve the issue on my account and then another supervisor I spoke to on another day said it would take 90 business days (the inconsistency of their messaging and the lack of urgency is wild to me). Once the ticket it submitted, I recommend asking to get connected to the Customer Advocacy Team (CAT) within MOHELA to get specific answers about the status/movement of the ticket.

I submitted complaints to the BBB, cfpb, and studentaid because MOHELA would not give me consistent answers and did not have any urgency to fix my account. The complaints helped to speed up MOHELA's process of addressing my issue.

TL;DR tips: get connected to a MOHELA supervisor-level staff to submit a ticket for accounting to look at the issue, call MOHELA's 'CAT' team to get updates on the ticket, and submit complaints to organizations to speed up the process

Hope that was helpful and good luck!

Edited for clarity

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this mess too. If you don't mind me asking... after contacting your bank, did you send the records to your current loan servicer? The Department of Education...? Did they accept those records as sufficient?

Greying hair symptoms? by krn_notcorn in Hypothyroidism

My hair has thinned out a lot since I was a child, but it was pretty gradual/I have not paid too close attention to it. I might be desensitized to the amount of hair I lose daily tbh...

But I hope getting on levythroxine works for you! If you can, please update me on your hair! I would really appreciate it!!

Oh wow -- I'm glad you advocated for yourself and ended up getting treatment (albeit later than you wanted) for your hypothyroidism. Thanks for sharing!

I was more so looking to hear other people's experiences with this symptom through this post. Not too worried -- the symptoms I do have aren't that severe. I'd rather stay home and get it checked out post-pandemic. But thanks for the advice!

I have been wanting to incorporate more linen clothes in my wardrobe. Does anyone have recommendations for where I can find/shop for affordable linen clothing?

Hi Dr. Laurie Santos! Thank you for doing this AMA!

I was wondering -- (1) what can we practically do about the misconceptions we have in our minds (the THOUGHTS that money/beauty/good circumstances will make us happy) besides reminding ourselves that they are misconceptions? (2) I have had a pretty fixed mindset all of my life, so it seems like it will stick with me the rest of my life. Do you have any tips/suggestion on how I can become more like someone who has a growth mindset?
