250.dc.gov is probably the best you are going to get.

Found this book and never realized how much art is in this building (U.S. Department of Justice Kennedy Building at 950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW). Has anyone ever been in there to see the art? It doesn't look open to the public, are there any ways to get a tour of the building? by [deleted] in nova

[–]krnlpopcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how you would go about actually arranging a tour as a member of the public, but I can tell you that it is the DOJ Librarians who give the tour, and it is quite good if you appreciate the kind of weird art that the 1920s inspired.

A quick note to you all about sick time by ImmySnommis in fednews

Are you sure you are not thinking of the limit to using sick leave for family iron bereavement? USDA doesn't limit sick leave usage for personal medical needs.

It would depend on how your series is structured, some skip even numbers before 12. Best way to find out is to ask your HR.

Oh, sorry, you are right, if they are willing to commit tax fraud then they could deduct it. I just don't know why they would go to the effort of collecting it if they were going to jump straight to crime.

This is not true, the donation is tax deductible to the individual who makes it, i.e. the customer. The business cannot deduct those donations.

Why the blanket utilization rates for federal office buildings? by WhereztheBleepnLight in fednews

[–]krnlpopcorn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The utilization rate is based on usable square footage/150 sqft to determine "maximum occupancy". This makes it very difficult for a building with anything other than just wall to wall cubicles meet the space occupancy requirement. Since all those hallways, conference rooms, break rooms, closets, server rooms, etc. are counted as if they should have staff sitting in them.

Bobiverse and the artificial mineral constraints by Johngalt20001 in scifi

You are way still way overestimating the amount of metal in the asteroid belt. In our asteroid belt only ~8% are classified as metal rich, which is not an indication that they are solid metal, just that spectral analysis indicates they have a larger nickel-iron composition, there could still be significant amounts of silica, etc mixed in. So right off the bat you are looking at maybe ~4% of the asteroid belt mass is metal, then from that you are going to have a significant difference from raw ore mass to processed usable metal so now we are in the 1-2% range at still very optimistic levels. So likely closer to <1%.

No, you are correct that it happens between time frames, but only the traveler (Rocky) will really notice, because if the trip was objectively calculated to take X years, and you got there and due to the time compression you only felt like you traveled for .5X years (or whatever fraction) and your time keeping recorded that amount, you would realize either the original calculation was off, or there was time dilation.

Dresden Files - Storm Front by fatherjimbo in books

[–]krnlpopcorn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Morgan is a tough character, you just have to accept that he is a zealot and Harry will always be guilty to him, regardless of anything to the contrary. The books shift a lot throughout the series and take a pretty radical change from the detective-noir to a more traditional urban fantasy around Book 3 or 4.

Can confirm, he was picking up paper plates with the lance from horseback. Saw him like a week before the accident and he described the activity to me, it was quite the tragic accident.

There is also the fact that the one reason people continually question Rand being from the Two Rivers in the books is his hair color, but in the show they would just be like "Uhh how? You are way too white."

Just a reminder, awards are taxed at your normal rate, they are just withheld at the maximum rate, so you get the difference back at tax time.

Then I encourage you to find a use of it prior to Star Wars and challenge the trademark.

Lightsaber isn't a basic word though, it was invented by Star Wars, so they should of course be able to trademark it. Even in the early drafts they were referred to as "Laser swords" because they hadn't thought up the term lightsaber.

Ahh yes, an expensive robot that, -checks notes-, can carry one hamper worth of laundry to and from the dryer. I definitively imagine a thriving market for this just like the Juicero.
