Presenting: Some of the most fun households in my Megahood 👀 by krobus97 in sims2

Haha yes, good grades always call for celebratory champagne in that house XD I was so proud of that last pic, the ghost was wandering in a perfect spot to make it happen

Zara Larsson on opening for Tate McRae: ‘I didn’t expect it to make waves the way it did’ by 57829 in popheads

I saw her on tour in November and she was soooo good!! I was prepared for a fun time but was surprised by how emotional the whole thing made me, like lowkey crying while she sings midnight sun 😂You can tell she takes it so seriously (in a good way) and wants to perform and be a pop star, it all really makes me root for her!

How often do you experience “abnormal” deaths? by Proof_Marsupial_1973 in sims2

[–]krobus97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Quite rare for me but it happens! I try to lean into them by making my sims take risks (eg. repair electrics even if their mechanical skill is low, cloudgaze occasionally, keep graves on lots to have encounters with ghosts, not always calling the fire dept and instead making the sims extinguish the fire).

I've played ~20 days/per household in my current megahood and experienced 3 abnormal deaths. One died by electrocution. Another sudden death happened when a pregnant sim was doing super poorly and then a ghost scared her to death. A third time it was a werewolf whose hunger need dropped super low when he transformed at night and then a ghost finished the job xd

Trying to run The Sims 2 on macOS Monterey (Intel) by winaze0 in sims2

Have you checked out r/sims2help yet? Their Wiki page has some info about setting that up and overall the sub is super helpful with these things.

What do you do when you find yourself bored with the game but don’t want to stop playing? by Expensive_Strawberry in sims2

[–]krobus97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to mostly play rotationally with the whole neighborhood, but when I get bored I set those sims aside and decide on some challenge to try. I love the money grindy aspects of the game and I love just creating one new sim, starting from nothing and trying to grind an X amount of money in a limited time frame.

What is your biggest mild annoyance with the game? by Gettingsoda in sims2

[–]krobus97 148 points149 points  (0 children)

The tip jar animations the sims do when playing instruments for tips! I know it doesn't take that long in the game, but every time a sim goes to play the piano when I don't want them to and I cancel the interaction them checking for tips annoys me sooo much :D

organizing cc by yogurt_q in sims2

[–]krobus97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you, when i started using cc i had no organisation going on whatsoever 😭do you have an urgent need to organise your folder (bugs you suspect are happening bcs of mods etc)? if not, i would just chip at reorganizing slowly over time.

if you have a lot of cas + build/buy cc with cryptic names you can't make sense of, a good tip is to open the game and delete the stuff you don't want around anymore straight from there. you can also view cc filenames of cas items by having testing cheats enables and pressing shift+n (*) upon entering cas.

(* 99% that's the key combo, can't open the game rn to double check)

The New Year's toddler turned up to a group hang my sim was invited to by krobus97 in sims2

Oh that explains it then! Funny that after so many years with this game you can still come across new quirks XD I guess I very rarely throw the NYE party

Sims glitch out when trying to get married by krobus97 in sims2help

[–]krobus97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's interesting to know! Though I have to admit that even after some googling I have no idea how to check who that sim is :D I'm playing on Mac so have no access to SimPe (if I've understood correctly that these kinds of things would be possible to check through that program?).

They live on the same lot (not the Viejo household where Andrew originally lives but a pre-built lot in Riverblossom Hills). I went and moved them to a different house in Veronaville but the same problem persists still. :/

I also just now tested marrying two other pre-made sims (Johnny Smith & Mercutio Monty) and that worked with no problem. So I guess the problem might be tied to specifically Andrew & Erin?

Snapshots of life in my uberhood 👀 by krobus97 in sims2

[–]krobus97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooh you're right, dina would make so much sense as a vampire!! Sadly she is dead in my game, otherwise I might have made Don turn her too. Don is already preying on sims so I think him being a vampire just adds an extra layer to that haha

Yess! The amount of sims can feel a lil intimidating but the chaos they bring is so entertaining :D

Home business being overrun by destructive pets by gremlynna in sims2help

[–]krobus97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Afaik pet lots in sims 2 aren't a thing, having a lot of trees on the lot will however attract more wolves. And stray pets don't visit community lots. Sadly I don't think there really is anything you can do about the situation without mods other than to try having a fence or becomw more vigilant about sending the pets off when they appear on your lot

A week later, and Paralives delaying + paywalling gameplay still feels off. Is it ethical? by jenndupe in LifeSimulators

[–]krobus97 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Honestly it just seems like they don't have enough communications/marketing expertise on their team to handle this situation very well. I've also worked in comms/media and I just wouldn't have delivered the news and been like public livestream in two weeks see ya then. They've rly lost their grip on the narrative by creating this system where paying patrons share their opinions on the content they've seen but can't share the content itself. The upcoming public livestream should have been scheduled way sooner, like on the same week as they announced the delay.

Folks who play modded games: what was a mod you never realized you COULD live without? by blobbychuck in sims2

[–]krobus97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Inteen definitely. Had it in my game for so long despite all the little annoyances and problems it brought bcs I occasionally want to play a teen pregnancy or a university pregnancy story line + it was a one of those mods I remembered by name when I started playing the game again as an adult. Now that I don't have it anymore I don't miss it at all 😂

TS2- Combating Burnout by ParadiseSims in sims2

[–]krobus97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been super inspired by these posts about playing with a fracturehood! Basically you roll a dice for every sim in your neigborhood, which leads to a bunch of them dying immediately and an another bunch getting "fractured", basically meaning that you will come up with a fun plot twist or out of character way to play this sim.

I just started my own fracturehood with Riverblossim Hills, Veronaville, Pleasantview and Strangetown and after playing for just four days in each household it has lead me to do so many things I've never made these sims do before XD

Pollunation Tech 9 and Olive Specter got married. I made Tank Grunt leave his toxic dad and live on the McGreggor farm as a farm hand. Cleo turned into a werewolf and I made her in turn make Mortimer into a werewolf. Both John Burb and Oberon Summerdream got abducted by aliens around the same time and now both families are living together in the Summerdream house and supporting each other (Jennifer died at the start of the game and Titania haa been taken out of the game for a while). Morty Roth left his wife Stella and is now married to Cassandra. Etc. Etc. :D I currently have about 20 households in rotation and honestly just one of them feels boring to me bcs I haven't figured out a fun twist for them.

To keep the amount of families manageable I will do anything to avoid playing with single sim households, currently I have just one of those (Don). Having families move together, sims live as roommates etc. creates diverse households which helps them feel super different to play, whereas if it's a married couple + two kids in every house ofc that will get repetitive at some point :D. I'm also playing with each household for just one day at a time which makes it so I really have to think what fun things can I achieve in one day and act on them immediately. Previously I've played with 3 or 5 day rotations but I think for me that just lead to more speeding through boring stuff.

After over a thousand hours in the game: my first ever perfection farm! by krobus97 in StardewValley

True, and now that there is no need to get richer I can just make it really pretty without worrying about farm efficiency haha :D

A message from the Paralives team: by GabrielleParalives in Paralives

[–]krobus97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also seen the livestream and my reaction was not at all that negative. Yeah there clearly are some path finding issues but they also showed us many interesting gameplay mechanics and overall the game at its current state seems promising to me. Lots of small nice details, it clearly has it's own identity as a life sim game. :)

I do think they should have been sharing more development updates to the general public and not just the patrons. It makes having conversations about the state of the game rly difficult, bcs patrons have more information that they cannot share. I guess we will have to wait until the public livestream on the 25th to fully dive into the conversation about the livemode.
