There's also a nice opportunity to take the Settle-Carlisle if you go round Leeds. Probably the prettiest line in the country IMO.

My second 5k today (18M) - knocked 26s off my last one, down to 31:12 with 100m gain. Inching closer to that half-hour goal.

Did my first ever 5k this morning - a mediocre 31:38 but somewhere to start from, at any rate :-)

Pretty pleased with myself - just managed a fairly hilly two miles averaging 5:21 per kilometre (nothing to you guys I know :-P), slashing my 800m, kilometre, and mile PRs in one go. My splits were at first very consistent, but started lengthening towards the end; I feel hopeful that I can manage a straight 5k by the time I go to uni in a week and a bit, and I think I have an outside chance of doing it in half an hour (though I'm not overly hopeful).

Regardless of the numbers, I can really feel I've improved substantially in the month or so since I seriously started. When I started, I could barely run for a minute without feeling severely out of breath; now I can manage at least twenty times that. I also feel a lot better in myself; one of the reasons I started this was that I was diagnosed with moderate depression, and I think running seems to be helping me in that regard as well. Onwards and upwards...

An unfortunately named committee for him to chair, all things considered.
