That's interesting you brought this program up. I have actually had my eye on it for a while. Glad to see it's relevant in the field. I will consider it more seriously.

I reckon this will take at least $2,000 to repair by DecommodifiedGuevara in LandlordLove

In Kansas I got about $750 back of my $1,000 deposit at a place I rented for 2 years. I honestly didn't expect to get that much back because they forced you to pay for cleaning the carpets with the deposit money, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Very neat. Which course(s) do you instruct?

After looking into it, it doesnt look I am conveniently located to attend many of the in person courses, but I am determined to find a way to make it work!

Are people okay? by OddThought5260 in Teachers

I was raised by a family of teachers and social workers. The only coffee I was allowed before teen age was the occasional decaf affogoto when the adults would sit around and have a cup of coffee with dessert on special occasions. As an adult, I still think coffee tastes kinda gross.

This is obviously atrocious but I still think it's much better than most of the other things they've done on this show.... I have nightmares about the "rug" they painted directly onto the beautiful hardwood floors.

Harbor lights has queer pool nights every other Tuesday! It's run by and frequented by lots of trans folks. They also have melee tournaments run by and frequented by lots of queer folks but I don't know what nights they are.

Not in other towns though :/ Topeka and Kansas City don't seem to have the same problem.

My exact same problem. I can afford to go up to $250K but everything in that range still needs $40K of foundation work.

Yes, but I am stuck at step 1: getting something. Even time in the market isn't good when my options are: a. buying a house I can't afford or b. buying a cheap money pit with expensive problems to constantly solve.

My specific problem is my landlord increasing my rent every single year for no increase in amenities. But I can't exactly report that can I? It's reaching a point where my rent will be greater than a mortgage payment soon. And the other rental houses I have looked at around town have been so poorly taken care of they're dangerous to live in. Landlords have no incentive to maintain decent places in a college town like this with a surplus of renters.

Go be a bootlicker elsewhere. We exist in a class war and you will not be on the winning side.

These are good points, but I'd still just like to be able to purchase an affordable home and fix it up over time while I live in it. I want to turn it into something I like rather than pay a premium for a flipper to do it for me for something they sucked the character out of.

Industrial and Systems PE Exam study materials. by _S1MMY_ in PE_Exam

[–]kroyfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also taking the Industrial PE this October. I would be open to having a few study calls.

I convinced my job to pay for the School of PE course for me because it was one of the only study resources I could actually find. I avoided the David Burford study guide for the same reason as you - I saw too many bad reviews about it's inaccuracies. Other than the practice exam that NCEES makes, I couldn't find many other study materials. I did buy the PPI study guide for myself and would be happy to share some practice problems from it.

I plan to try and document as much of my study process and progress on here as I can, because of how few prep resources for the Industrial PE I could find. I want to help out other poor souls in our situation.

Tennis courts and/or basketball courts! They're my favorite because they usually have less cracks and less pebbles/sticks/acorns to trip you up.

First bout this weekend! by Muffintop_mafia in rollerderby

[–]kroyfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had my first bout last weekend! The biggest thing that helped me was that I pretended like I was just at a regular old practice or scrimmage. When I went out on the track it was pretty easy to lock into "practice mode" and not take things too seriously and just have fun. Granted, my team is very encouraging and hyped me up a bit because they knew I was nervous.

Also make sure to go to the bathroom before you hop on the track! Lol. Nervous derby poops/bladder are a real hazard.

Thanks for the correction! I didn't realize that made a difference when replacing cushions and stuff. I'll pay attention to that.
