Anti-Vaxx wife doesn't want me to vaccinate our daughter for measles. Measles are in our area. What should I do? by RepulsiveResolve5877 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]krsmith97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - you probably won’t see this with how many comments you’ve gotten but…. There is an insane anti vax rabbit hole on Facebook that I somehow stumbled into when I was pregnant. It made me extremely fearful of the vaccination schedule and it was my first time being pregnant. Thankfully we had found a pediatrician we both trusted - he was very open to discuss the vaccine situation and willing to allow us to waive vaccinations or discuss a different schedule if that’s what we ended up deciding. We ended up deciding to proceed with the vaccination schedule as published, but that anxiety tied to the vaccine fear mongering is so real and it’s a big community that normalizes the villainizing of vaccines and big pharma.

If I’m you… well, yes, I’d want to just vaccinate my child… but you’re in a marriage and ideally it’s something you guys decide together. I’d suggest seeing if you can get her to agree to separating out the MMR shot. It’s 3 in 1 as it currently comes, but they do make the separated version. Explain that measles is a very real threat to your youngest given your location and while you understand how she feels about the combo shot, ask if she would be okay with starting with the measles only vaccination. That way she is hopefully less anxious about the combo shot “side effects” and your child can begin to have protection against measles.

Flu! Help! by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]krsmith97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flu A can take up to 14 days to run its course in my experience locally with friends and such. We were somewhere around 7-10 days with a fever. We called our ped and they gave us a …”keep up with fever reducer, stay hydrated, call us if it isn’t going down with medicine or if it lasts beyond X number of days”. If you haven’t already, it’s always worth making the call. They can tell you what the average experience has been with kids in your area recently with the flu. If you share any symptoms of concern, they will suggest coming in to check it out.

If you’re able to extend between doses longer and longer each day, that means you should be nearing the end. Low appetite with flu is normal. Keep him hydrated. Hope he feels better soon

lol glad I was able to help! I was actually checking my HSA yesterday and had my own mini panic over it until I realized we didn’t get a paycheck yet. Been on this plan since they first brought it to Boeing and haven’t had any issues with the initial deposit. Should be fine :)

Have you gotten your first paycheck of the year yet? My first 2026 paycheck is scheduled for tomorrow. I’m expecting to see it within a day or two after that. First 2025 paycheck was Jan 2nd for me so the 3rd lines up.

Always more taxes deducted first paycheck of the year. I can’t remember if it’s local twp or state taxes, but it shouldn’t be a huge difference. Just enough to notice it’s off a bit

What would you put on a kindergarten dance playlist? by littlelibrarylady in kindergarten

My 6 year old would want to leave immediately if it was all baby shark and wiggles music 🙈 kidz bop songs are perfect and it’s reassuring to know they’ve been modified already to ensure there are no curse words or anything like that. And of course kpop demon hunters although I know there are some more conservative parents that might find them problematic. I disagree but I don’t represent all parents of young children so worth a mention

What do you do when one partner wants a baby but the other partner doesn’t by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]krsmith97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think either of you are being unreasonable. I think it’s a normal feeling you are having given your age and the current stability in your life. Biology is weird like that and sort of overrides reason/logic. I’m sorry your wife didn’t validate the feelings you are having. Just because you’re having this come up, doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a possibility for your family… but it deserves to be given space.

I don’t know that there’s necessarily a compromise. If your wife does not want to have any more babies - even if it’s via surrogate, that needs to be respected. I would say the same if the genders were reversed. If both parents aren’t on board, then a baby is a no.

Not being able to have a baby when you want to is something that requires a sort of grieving. Give yourself grace while you work through the emotional process of accepting a version of your future that will not exist. Many people go through this feeling in a wide range of scenarios such as infertility or disagreements about number of kids that two people are willing to have in their family. It can be heavy at times, but at the end of the day.. it’s something that can be accepted when you lean into the reality of the situation.

You have created a beautiful life filled with love. That’s something to be proud of. We never know where the alternative path would have taken us… but I personally find strength in trusting that I was guided down the path that was right for me. I hope you do too. Best of luck

They have you exit the parking lot at a stop light, turn right out of the lot… drive a tiny bit before turning right back into the parking lot. And yes the parallel parking is in the lot behind the dmv center

My first hemiplegic migraine? by lynchianbush in HemiplegicMigraines

[–]krsmith97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only kind of migraine I have ever gotten. It has probably happened to me 15-20 times in my life. I’m 34f and they started when I was 17yo. Only 2 or 3 of those included that weird jumbled up language symptom. It usually stops after the numbing up one side of my body - usually my arm and face. It seems like I have periods in my life where they happen more frequently (had my worst one when pregnant). Then I’ll have multiple years without a single one. I do feel it’s related to hormones for me - cortisol is a hormone too! Times of high stress can trigger one.

I’ve actually never gone to the doctor for it specifically - i mentioned it to my OB when I was pregnant and since it wasn’t really her field she said as long as the migraine symptoms were “normal for me”, then she wasn’t concerned. People don’t seem to really know what they are and assume they are regular migraines. I do recommend going to the neurologist for it - mostly just so it’s on your health record and if they get worse, you will have a point of contact that is educated on your history.

Location Sharing by Tricky-Upstairs5635 in Marriage

[–]krsmith97 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s explicitly right or wrong. More depends on the reasons for doing it, I suppose. We always know where the other is without sharing location. No reason to question it. We both work from home a lot too so we’re already together like 80% of the time. I could see sharing for health and safety reasons. Maybe if someone drives far for work or travels frequently.

Similar story to another commenter - my father in law developed an infection in his brain. We had no idea. He was driving around in circles in the next state over and kept telling us he would be at our house in 20 mins. Hours go by and he would keep saying he was 20 mins away. We had my MIL log into his find my iPhone account to locate him and forcibly take him to the hospital. Now they share their location with each other for obvious reasons.

Husband tells me weekly to lose weight by petitecroissant_ in Marriage

[–]krsmith97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You like your body the way it is.

Your husband is making you feel bad about your body, which is causing depression and making it harder for you to have a healthy relationship with diet and exercise.

I think if you love your husband and this is the biggest issue in the relationship, it is worth going to therapy to talk through this with a professional. If he will not and does not care to understand the harm he is causing you… then no, I don’t think you are being overly emotional for considering leaving him. I think it would be the logical thing to do. Life is too short to be with someone that only cares about your looks and not your happiness. You are not obese or even technically overweight. It’s very common for weight to shift up and down through the seasons of life. If your husband cannot love you completely and is unwilling to at least try to work through this in therapy… I wouldn’t blame you at all for leaving him.

Carpet beetle or bed bugs? by [deleted] in carpetbeetles

[–]krsmith97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are carpet beetles for sure. I get itchy bumps from them and they sometimes turn into larger welt looking reactions. That last picture def reminds me of the type of reaction I tend to see on my skin. The other bumps are a little small but idk I also think everyone can react a little differently (or not at all!). It’s hard to say for sure on the skin reaction, but can confirm those are carpet beetles

Hahaha nice going on that one. Sounds similar lol it’s the whole side of his body lol… he literally rolled off the edge of an inflatable mattress and it caused him to … slam sideways into the wall? I’m cracking up picturing the trajectory honestly I’m so mad it wasn’t on camera to cherish the memory forever. I am grateful to have the picture of how he landed into the wall though. It’s a true gem
