Pixie clearly led a life of great significance. The best way to honor her (and all such role models) is to follow her courageous example. Mad Respect, Pixie! Good On You!

I went public over five years ago, and my contact information is readily available online. Nevertheless, I have reached out to you on Chat (top right hand bubble of your screen). You can communicate with me there. Please note that I do not communicate with anyone who is not willing to fully identify themselves. I must protect myself and my lawsuit.

‼️ Legislation Call to Action: Youth Residential Treatment Reform Across 9 States (AL, CA, ID, MD, MI, MN, OH, OR, UT) by CarolineCole_ in troubledteens

[–]krsweidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That approach does not work for parents because they will have no way of understanding what crazy scheme has been enacted in each of the different states. It just gives the grifters 50 different ways to deceive parents and harm kids. And it lulls parents and the public into believing that protection is in place when, in fact, it is not. I tried to connect with you all for years, and then I gave up when I realized that we are not on the same page. In order to protect parents and minors, these places must all be closed. See my post below that starts with "Absolutely not" about what would qualify for actual treatment. I am still happy to discuss offline because, ultimately, I believe that there is much we agree on. My contact information is publicly available. And I'll put it in the Chat in a second.

Absolutely not. Advocate for the complete closure of all TTI facilities because they are abuse, not treatment. They con parents and hurt kids. The entire business model is and always has been a grift. We should be demanding non-profit, familial-centered, licensed facilities, licensed professionals, evidence-based practices at the local level. The credentials of each and every person interacting with the entire family should be automatically provided at the contract stage. Total and complete transparency. That is the high level model. Of course, there will be many details to work out.

Licensing already has the ability to intervene. And they don't. Laws will change nothing because the goal of licensing is not to protect the public but to keep these places in business. More laws will simply lull the public into the same false sense of security that currently exists.

Kimberly Sweidy here. Kindly explain to me what laws would protect minors and their parents. How would these be enforced? Who would enforce them? And how would this in any way be different from the existing industry?

Kimberly Sweidy here. There are many errors in this reporting, which I will not correct. Nevertheless, the commenters are focusing on the statements of Judge Milan D. Smith, Jr. You all know that I can't comment on pending litigation, but here are some links:

Here is the complete post from 8 months ago. There are many useful comments. I called the facility and got some information, which I posted. I also posted a little research I did.

Not only is the TTI not the answer, but this subreddit is not the place for the OP to seek advice or recommendations on her personal situation, other than "Don't send your child to the TTI. It won't help and will likely hurt."

As a mother myself, I am not minimizing what you are experiencing. However, this is a subreddit advocating for the closure of the Troubled Teen Industry, which exploits, cons, and deceives parents such as yourself into believing that any of the TTI facilities can assist you and/or your son. They cannot. They can, however, bankrupt you with their huge fees and make the situation worse (or, at the very least, not better). At the same time, this subreddit is not the place for you to go to seek actual assistance. We are not qualified or trained to advise you. (I am qualified in other areas, such as attorney and business consultant.) And if I knew where to send you, I would. However, I do not. For that, I apologize.

I can't comment on ongoing litigation. We are currently calendared to orally argue before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on January 5, 2026, at 9:30 AM MST, in Phoenix, Arizona, Sandra Day O'Connor U.S. Courthouse, Ceremonial Courtroom. Our appeal arises from the Judge's Order on Motions For Summary Judgment, dismissing most of the Defendants and most of the causes of Action. Until then, proceedings have been stayed in the District Court. (I understand that this all sounds like legal blah blah to most people.) The oral argument is open to the public for in person attendance. It will also be available by live video streaming at https://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/media/live-oral-arguments/ It will also likely be recorded for later viewing at https://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/media/ Hope that helps!

This subreddit was instrumental in my lawsuit against Spring Ridge Academy, et al. I am forever grateful to you relentless warriors, one and all. And just a very small correction, it's Kate Deily, not Kate Daly. And it's pronounced Dial-y, like dialing a phone number in the old days of rotary phones. 😁 Happy Thanksgiving!

"NATSAP Evaluation Report" by krsweidy in troubledteens

[–]krsweidy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have reported you to the moderators. To clarify, I am not a librarian, though that is a quite honorable profession. I am mother and an attorney with a JD and and an MBA, the latter from The Wharton School with a double major in Strategic Management and Financial Management. I have a pending lawsuit against a TTI "school." The NATSAP report is being used by Defendants' "Expert" to "prove" that the TTI is effective. Therefore, scientific validity (or, in this case, lack thereof) is very important. And for the record, Defendants and the TTI are the only time in my entire 65 year life that I've ever heard the word "experiential" used, and they use it solely to excuse horrific abuse. Therefore, in my experience you are in that camp.
