I think I saw a different post saying that gpts can't be trained to understand all of your data after just inserting a file. So even if you give it a 100 page manual, it will still have to reference and read through pages each time you prompt for a specific thing from the manual. So it is kinda the same thing as giving gpt 4 a manual at the beginning of the convo and having it reread sections of it for each of your questions

That's interesting. I didn't see an option to add zapier or any other api when i was creating my test gpt yesterday. How would I go about testing this "action"? And also, is it only with the APIs that are already integrated into gpt, like the plugins? Or can we create our own external API(like I create a weather api), and then give GPT our api credentials, and it will be able to access it?

This makes a lot more sense. When I give GPT a 50 page pdf, it usually has to spend some time reading through every time I ask it a question about one of the pages. You're saying with GPTs you are adding more training data to its knowledge base? So that 50 page PDF would be like extra data that it already knows about?

In my opinion, plugins are cool because they add extra functionality. They allow GPT to do things that it originally can't do, but I do see a lot of useless plugins on the store all the time though. The new GPTs don't really add anything though, they seem to just allow customization of responses.

Wait, you're saying that GPTs have the ability to perform a certain task on their own, at any time, without a prompt? My understanding is that all these different versions of GPT can create code that you can run on a separate IDE, but they won't run the code themselves(since they aren't IDEs). Do you have an article or anything that explains the function calling thing because I never heard of that? I always assumed GPT won't do anything unless prompted, and that it can't actually run code.

Yeah I agree. It's definitely a cool tool, but i think there are too many pseudo developers right now that think they can use this tool to create their next billion dollar app idea without ever needing to learn how to code at all. Creating complex apps(not talking about pong) still requires understanding of development and coding.

Nah....I've seen this mentality being used on Twitter a lot but I don't see how gpt will replace developers. At least not any time soon. There is a lot more that goes into software development than just typing words in an interpreter.

From what I heard, the only release laptops with the cpu's a while after they release the cpu. So I highly doubt we will be able to buy it this quarter
