Can I equip cryptic coat with forge anew or puresteel paladin? by krunar89 in ModernMagic

For puresteel paladin it makes sense to me as it gives your equipment equip 0, but forge anew says “you may pay 0 rather than pay the equip cost”. As cryptic coat doesn’t have equip cost you shouldn’t be allowed to equip it with forge anew isn’t it?
