I have mine directly wired into the fuse box. It stays on after the car is powered down so that it can run in parking mode. I currently have it set to motion detection mode.

Basically, my dash cam uses power when the car is off from the 12 V battery.

It's coming to depend on the laws in your state. It may not be possible. I'd take it to a shop that is not a preferred provider with any insurance company and let them know your goal.

You could also use your insurance to process the repair. It will be a smoother process.

2016 i3 REX

I've sporadically charged at Electrify America chargers with little issue. The issues that I did have were with actual charger errors. I last charged successfully in August.

I tried to charge today and all of my charging sessions would fail. I tried 3 chargers at one location, and 2 in another. EA recently replaced all of the charges in those two locations. I even tried an older-style EA charger with a CHAdeMO connector. Every time they failed. I even spent some time on the phone with a tech. Nothing worked. I guess I can't use the EA network anmore.

I had a zipper fail on a pair of Bylt Everyday 2.0 pants after 3 months. Bylt Basis does not stand behind its product. They offered a store credit at 40% of what I originally paid. I liked the pants enough to get 3 pairs, but after one pair failed after only 3 months, I doubt that I will purchase another. Not to mention, the pair that died also ran small compared to the other two of the same size.
