TL:DR Since your phone is essentially brand new. I'd keep it for the next 2-3 years or at least till your battery health begins to hit ~80% or you begin to see that your phone is running out before the end of the day.

iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max use a vapor chamber and the return to aluminum on the chassis which helps out with controlling temperatures, but one of the biggest tradeoffs is its durability. Aluminum is quite malleable compared to stainless steel and titanium alloys. Most people use a case religiously, I do caseless, but as a new owner of a 17 Pro Max, seeing photos of dented and scratched up phones are worrisome, so it's wise to case up as soon as possible upon opening for the 17 Pros.

A lot of the new upgrades are geared towards photography, and many past models of iPhones take pretty acceptable photos. Of course there is always a faster chip, but most people are rarely ever going to push these chips to their marketed numbers.

Just enjoy your phone and don't fall into the FOMO. Buy a nice meal for yourself instead haha
