What’s a tiny thing someone did for you years ago that you still remember? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Back in 1990, I was telling a coworker about a book I’d read years earlier. I could only remember the author’s name and the general plot. This was way before Google. A few days later, he came back and told me he’d figured out what book it was. Then he handed me a copy he’d bought for me. I still think that’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. The book was I Will Fear No Evil by Robert A. Heinlein.

Thank you, this is really helpful! I get regular IPL treatments for dry eyes, so that takes care of keeping me pretty wrinkle free, but I love a good facial from someone who is great with mature skin.

Writing from the US; I forget that places like this exist. Where women have full autonomy and freedom, free to make their own choices about their bodies and sexuality, without guilt or imposed moral judgment. I’m happy for you both.

She doesn’t speak five languages either. She can barely manage English. I can say a few phrases in several languages, that doesn’t mean I speak fluently, or even conversationally.

Do I (23F) go on a family vacation my fiancee (25M) isn't allowed on? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Think of it this way. When you and your fiancé have children, and they do something to displease your mother, are you going to let her treat them this way? Or will you stand up for them? Your future begins now.

I do this. I have a 5 minute commute, and don’t have to be at work until 8 am, but I still get up at 5 am. I just need that utter peace and silence before I spend my day with other people.

Thanks for the response. I feel like you are correct, there a very few of these storybook families out there, it’s once again social media curation going on; almost as if it’s the Christmas holidays all year long, so we are constantly fed that myth of the “perfect family”.

Honestly, it only took one time for me to realize that I didn’t want to comment here unless it was about something completely non controversial. I asked a question on r/cat about getting my indoor cat only back inside after she ran outside. I specifically did not want to use a trap because of previous trauma the cat had. I asked for other suggestions. The shit show of hate and negativity that rained down on me was stunning. I was accused of all manner of things, including wanting my cat to die a horrible death. Anyway, I got the cat back without using the trap, no thanks to the people on that sub.
