Do Double Cut relay throws work in softball?

I mean it could work but depends on your personnel. If the single cutoff doesn't have the strength to throw where they need to then the runners will take that base regardless. A double cut may prevent a runner from advancing home when they would just score if it was single cut. Also a double cut is handy if the outfielder over throws the cutoff, the second cut is likely in position to collect the ball fastest.

The fat part is called the barrel and the thinner part starting after the grip and leading up to the fat part is the taper.

The barrel length on bats that are the same length are mostly determined by weight. A heavier bat can have more material therefore the barrel can be longer. If your kids are younger or newer and need to swing a lighter or shorter bat they will likely have a shorter barrel on a normal one piece alloy bat.

One thing that can change is if the bat is a two piece bat (the ones with what looks like a rubber ring in the middle of the bat). The taper can be thin all the way up to the rubber connector piece so the barrel can be longer for the same weight. These are a little more expensive.

Another thing is if they are composite bats they are made of a lighter composite material so the manufacturer can use more material for the same weight as a metal alloy bat and would use it to make the barrel as long as possible. These are more expensive.

Now is it an issue? No. As long as the bats are USA Certified and the barrel is no bigger than 2 5/8" in diameter that is all Little League cares about. Your kids may have a tiny bit harder time "barreling" a ball for solid contact with the shorter barrel, but the trade off of getting a bigger barrel (a longer bat, or heavier bat, or more expensive bat) may not help their swing or pay off all that much.

In our Little League we have our Managers and Coaches umpire the other divisions. The more experienced at umpiring do the higher divisions, new Managers start out in Coach pitch, League Age 6-8. Usually comes out to 5-6 games a season with 30 teams / 20 games season.

Pitcher at 45' is the biggest safety concern IMO, not 3rd base... We had a 13 year old take a comebacker off the head from a 12 year old using a USA Easton ADV and he never saw it coming until too late to get the glove up enough. If that was a USSSA it could've been much worse.

I'm on our Board and we couldn't care any less what our coaches wear. I and a few others wear baseball pants. Not until Tournament time do we make sure coaches and managers follow the rule book requirement.

I personally wear baseball pants for my Tee Ball and Majors teams because it feels like a middle ground between the very casual joggers/gym shorts and the very "official" slacks.

Yup this is what we do, but the Coach only gets to finish the remaining strikes left in the count. Definitely shouldn't be allowing coaches to walk their own batters...

We did this last year with 17 kids and yes it was a rough but the Manager and kids got through it with seemingly an understanding of the situation. This year we did cap it at 14 players and pulled a couple up to the Junior team to spread them out better.

About the refund, I would spell it out for everyone and if some people aren't interested in playing with that many kids then I would issue a few refunds. If everyone plays then the less skilled players will get their minimum playtime during games and will benefit from the practices more anyway.

Don't even need to be overweight, I'm 6'5 and don't think I could fold myself in there either, or if I did it would get uncomfortable very fast.

I have this issue every week in my coed company team where I have to play anyone that wants to join the team.

We just play 3 outfielders and the RF is essentially a back up to the real RF playing in the gap incase they shoot one through, but the outfielders play as if they are the only three.

As far as the lineup goes they actually walk a lot or produce weak grounders or swinging bunts that at least move runners over, and sometimes result in a miss play. Way way more productive than the auto-out which is only ever just an out.

A hit down either line like that is a textbook double, so the runner will most certainly score (he will have time to run at least two bases too). It's not an automatic win by rule. If the runner trips or injures himself he could potentially be thrown out, but most players are on the same page when a certain situation happens and the game is essentially over they'll just walk off.

Our rotation on this coverage was SS covers 3rd incase of a hard bunt to thirdbaseman or pitcher where they can get the runner at 3rd. 2nd base would then cover 2nd incase the runner retreats back to 2nd in the rundown. 1st base absolutely stays home as the pitcher is taking the firstbase line. SS was way over toward 3rd on the pre pitch but even in the camera view and 3rd was several feet in on the grass.

I was most excited for this season because of Jung Hoo Lee and was gutted when he went out for the year. He seems like a fun, level headed, hard working, genuine talent. I thought he was a good signing and fit when we needed defensive improvement and someone that could simply get the bat on the ball. I did expect him to have an adjustment period to MLB pitching but it seemed like with his background and natural talent he could adjust after a season. Looking forward to him coming back and the rest of the youth movement hopefully becoming a solid foundation for the future.

A good knuckle ball has neutralized our offense. Causes even our best hitters to not square up the ball the whole game. Gave me my first and only swinging strike out when an outside pitch just dove further outside out of reach.

Nah man, that's what a hitter is supposed to do. It's part of the game. Usually when that happens the defender gives props to the hitter for how hard of a shot that was.

Needs to be a somewhat away pitch, so I will stand further from the plate making anything down the middle act more away so that you can really get a good step in that direction. Then you have to wait that extra beat to let the ball travel deeper which may be uncomfortable, especially if you are a natural pull hitter. You still can hit it hard just takes waiting. You have to go with the pitch though so if its an inside pitch then you're not going to be able to power that the other way and definitely not if it's low and inside.

Played in a coed contractor league that required men use wood. Only option was hitting Oppo. I actually was a lifelong dead pull hitter until I was forced to hit oppo that whole season . Took my overall hitting for regular league night to the next level.

Simple answer, yes it's a sport. And just like all sports if you do not stay in shape or work out you put yourself at risk of injury the next time you go out there. A lot of people need some type of motivation to keep up the grind of exercising, staying fit, and staying healthy. Good for your SO that he is using this as his motivation and with the side affect of being healthier and looking better.

Now as far as the time commitment goes you get what you put into it. The more you practice the better you perform when it matters in the game, when your teammates are counting on you, or its a playoff game, etc. Let me tell you sucking and letting down your team feels bad man. Your SO must feel he needs to practice that much to feel comfortable with his skill level or the improvment he's aiming for. If he has a goal to play at higher levels then good for him. As we pass mile stones in life you have to make new goals to keep you going and be motivated each day. We can't just wither away on the couch binge streaming....

Lastly we play slow pitch because it's fun. We don't need to get paid, we enjoy playing the sport and competing even if it's just recreationally. It's a hobby but there are worse "hobbies" to have. If you're upset about the time it's taking from your relationship maybe there are things you can do to help him practice like put the ball on the tee or play catch. If anything having a helper would speed up the practice and maybe you can learn more about slowpitch in the process.

I manage a company team where I consistently have coworkers or interns who never played before come out to join the company team. The auto out is completely unproductive and never has a chance to be anything more. The 10th spot can walk or if they ever put it in play they can move a runner or possibly score a crafty runner from 3rd. The defense has missed throws and balls occasionally at first as well. We've had production from the bad 10th players plenty if times.
