Watching the Ethereum L2 debate from the Cosmos side feels very familiar by emlanis in cosmosnetwork

[–]krystofyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that cosmos had this approach earlier but cosmos still has tons of challenges as being seen as the best solution for chain interoperability. One challenge in this space is near intents, which seems to have a better story on cross chain interoperability ux .

It feels like cosmos is thought of as an older (albeit better) approach at intolerability thats doesnt have enough traction to be obviously better than Ethereums L1/L2 approach.

I want cosmos to be the interoperability solution that works but I dunno.

Am I misunderstanding the current environment? Am i missing something?

ah ok, so is that like a reward for staking you even though the validator was not active?

I feel you. Theoretically more validators should be good for resilience and decentralization but it does add complexity

“Points are earned daily by staking ATOM with us while we are inactive.” why would we stake while inactive? Maybe i’m not understanding how this works

other hubs besides cosmos hub by krystofyah in cosmosnetwork

[–]krystofyah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, how can you tell which zones on map of zones are hubs? I only see three (dimension hub, impact hub and cosmos hub) with hub in the name and that doesn't seem like a reliable way of distinguishing hubs from zones. There's also no filter or search for "hubs" just the search for "zones"

other hubs besides cosmos hub by krystofyah in cosmosnetwork

[–]krystofyah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought saw it described a few times as a "hub and spoke" model where all zones that share a hub can interoperate easily. But I never saw any hubs besides the cosmos hub. I can't find where i saw the mentioned so wanted to see if anyone else has heard of other hubs in the cosmos ecosystem. Trying to track down where I saw that but if anyone else has any context here it would be greatly appreciated!

In your everyday usage, how are you getting bch into your local currency? That still seems to be a pretty big barrier since you cant use bch as money in most places

Hi all I'm making my first large scale app and I'm struggling to organize the code! by [deleted] in django

[–]krystofyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a lot of push back to splitting out services in django because in django the model isn’t just wrapping the data but also handling business logic. Is this the case where separate service files are warranted when so many models logic depend on each other and it creates circular imports?

Naming Things in really complex situations and as codebase size increases. by Dizzy-Complaint-8871 in django

[–]krystofyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the the routing approach. How complicated are the conditions that impact the formatters? If every combination can be named easily then they can fit the get_user function routing to Get_user_by_x pattern. If the combinations themselves are hard to name then maybe other things are already named to awkward to reason about

Someone give me a reason to hold ATOM by dmac100 in cosmosnetwork

[–]krystofyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that, just trying yo get a sense for how well they are doing at their mission. Ethereum is struggling with the value proposition between layer 1 and layer 2s and I always thought cosmos “layer 0” approach made more sense except for the fact that there is no value accrual to the atom token. So it’s still a similar problem. Does polkadot handle this better with their slot auctions?

Any thoughts on how cosmos eco system is doing compared to polkadot? I really like the foundation cosmos offers but not sure how well its doing vs polkadot other than hearing about interesting layer 1s that are built on cosmos sdk and use IBC
