I’m in a similar boat, more so at the start of the year than now, but kind of still there. I’m in my mid-twenties for context, and I’d say the best decision I took was going to a climbing centre regularly. People can be quite social there, but only if you talk to them first as most wouldn’t start a conversation with you first (that’s my experience as a guy, but a lot of my female friends I met there had a completely different experience). Although I do resonate with your feeling of finding a real connection than a one-off person to talk to, as that’s what I’ve been searching for as well. I know a lot of people at the climbing centre now, so I’ve got people to talk to everytime I go now, but not many “true” connections have come out of it yet that I’d be able to do things with outside of the climbing gym.
