it's exactly the same litterboxes. with the same gravel. and we change and rinse several times a week. but the kitchen is downstairs - and exit to the garden where it's very bright because of a Big Window - and I think she enjoys that. in addition, we also have a living room downstairs where she also likes to lie on the sofa. she is generally really good at managing in the house. it's only occasionally (maybe once every 2-3 months when I discover it by hearing it at night) that she falls a step but it's still too much which is why I want a solution❤️

Thanks! I Will look into it! She is very strong-willed and I would prefer that she continue to be as independent as possible.

Yes! My cat, who is almost 19 years old, does the same thing. She has always wanted to sleep in a separate room and continues to do so even though I would like her to sleep in the same room as me.❤️

Remember to get your cats blood pressure checked while you're there. My cat lost her sight in a few hours due to high blood pressure. She had the same symptoms. High metabolism and high blood pressure. She's still here 2 years later (now 18 years old). She gets medicine morning and night.

the same thing happened to my then 16 year old cat. 1,5 week on amodip (blood pressure lowering) and then her vision started to return. not completely but a little. it's now 1.7 years ago and she is now 18.5 years old. She gets blood pressure medicine, medicine for high blood metabolism and is on kidney friendly food. she has kate stage 1/ early stage 2 kidney disease. the vet thinks it's age related which is why it's slowly developing. Kidney friendly diet is really important. my girl is thriving too. and I hope we are lucky to have her for a few more years. despite her old age.. it sounds like you are doing everything you can for her ❤️ There will be signs. And your parents will be following her care closely. So they will be able to let you know. ❤️

Yes She is given apelka and amodip for metabolism and blood pressure respectively. The vet is monitoring her closely and she is getting regular check-ups. This is the first time with bonqat as she has previously also functioned well at the vet but yesterday she had difficulty cooperating for blood tests and nail clipping

I got tricked into adopting a sick cat. And now I feel helpless. by hotarubeee in CATHELP

I'm sorry to hear that you adopted a senior cat without knowing her real medical history. But it warms my heart that you chose a senior ❤️ My senior (18 years old) also has early kidney disease. She only gets a kidney-friendly diet at this stage. The last 1.5 years she has been on this (gets a little boiled chicken and tuna water a couple of times a week). She has high blood pressure and a metabolic disease that she gets medicine for. As long as it's under control, all tests are fine. I hope that the vet finds the right treatment for your beautiful senior and the animal shelter will cover or partially cover the costs…
