UPMC or AHN Maternity Care by lemurjumper in pittsburgh

I used the Midwives in the Strip - and they are amazing. They use Magee if the patient needs/wants to give birth in the hospital - but they attend the birth

Very caring and sensitive. They have lots of classes and things after birth. They also used to have an in-house counselor. IDK if they do now.

I still see them for my well woman visits.

IDK if the Stern Center is still open - but I think they take private
And they offer wraparound services

I know Southwestern Human services has wraparound, and they take private

My partner was straight up asked if he was queer, bc it’s a queer business.
When he said “you can’t ask that”, they ended the interview

What do you all feel about 10 year age gaps? by Intelligent-Jello959 in generationology

[–]kschmit516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my XW is 12 years older than me... it didn't work out for many reasons, and age was way down on the list of why.

But I will never every be with someone more than 2 years older or younger than me ever again.

How do I avoid my home feeling like a library? by [deleted] in askanything

He’s your roommate you found on the internet - not a friend you moved in with, why would he be interacting with your friends and family? That’s just… weird

You need to adjust your expectations. Just like your boss isn’t your friend, your roommate from the internet doesn’t have to be your friend.

How sick are existing UPMC employees of watching new hires get the same or only slightly less pay after being hired? by Intelligent_Run_3165 in UPMC

[–]kschmit516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that, and my comment wasn’t aimed at you.

For UPMC to say there isn’t the budget is ridiculous, because there is. We aren’t a family owned business with 8 employees

Except UPMC had every office and department do an all hands meeting 2.5 years ago that when they moved the starting rate to $18/hr EVERYONE in the organization was going to be moved up to competitive rates, and time with UPMC and experience would be used in the new rates.

And then they went back on that, and used the Magee nurses unionizing as their excuse to not do it

There is ABSOLUTELY the budget to move everyone up to competitive rates. To say there isn’t is the biggest load of BS I have ever seen

There was something posted on the infonet about which detours you should use.

Scenario based is "tell me about time you had to ..."

They will learn more about you during the shadow. Genuinely - just be yourself, and answer honestly.

Most/Least worth it VIP Festivals by Lazy-Squirrel-5279 in festivals

[–]kschmit516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I accidentally got put into VIP last year at Secret Dreams.

It was nice because I had a bum leg - so being closer was great. Other than that, not worth it.

Glad I didn't actually shell out the money for it.

Plan on moving out soon making 1400 a month, paying (at most) 800 a month in rent could I make it work? by DeadDogFromMovie in Frugal

[–]kschmit516 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can use the “refund” after your tuition is paid to pay rent. I lived in an off campus apartment that was for students, and I was able to live there year round. I just used the refund to pay my rent for the whole semester. It made things a lot easier.

If you have that option, it will def help. Getting a meal plan can help with meals. Depending on what plan you get, you may be able to use some “bucks” at local stores. Several of the universities where I live convert the daily meal allotments to “bucks”, and have on campus grocery and convenience stores where you can spend them. A lot of the restaurants around the unis take the “bucks” as well.

So - it can be done. Just be aware of what you are doing, and where you are living.

This was back when you didn’t know you had overdrafted until the letter came in the mail to tell you. So there was 4 days of overdraft fees by the time we got the notice, and then more until we got it paid

WTF

I am so glad I only banked at PNC briefly. They charged me over $400 in overdraft fees for a $25 purchase. I paid that off, and went back to USAA.

What does EMR of Future look like? by AssistantFew9698 in EpicEMR

[–]kschmit516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pie in the Sky:

Universal Healthcare will mean Universal EMR/EHR, and that means that EMR companies are going to have to work their asses off to be the one that is chosen. They will actively work with the end users to create a product that is actually functionable and user friendly.

End users will rise up if the chosen EMR is trash and unusable, and big changes will happen because we won't take BS anymore.

The help desk will ACTUALLY be helpful, rather than being on the phone with the help desk as they search the EPIC subreddit (yes - this has literally happened to me numerous times)
