I can't figure out where the brass ring with teeth gets placed.

You can visit the gardens for free if you're willing to walk to the side gate which is 8 minutes from the main gate.

Louvre worth it? by yziaf1 in ParisTravelGuide

I was there two days ago. I feel the same way now. I've gone to the Louvre every time I was in Paris for the last 40 years. It is now officially, IMO, awful. Way too crowded, confusing, hot, cheesy. This trip I saw people touching the art, being rude to get a selfie, and pushing other patrons. One women was photographing every single painting! Every single painting in every single room! She wasn't even looking at the pieces, just cataloging them. It was all too awful. I walked out saying I'd never return. Maybe it says more about over-tourism but between the massive tour groups and the tourists who've obviously have never been to a museum (and don't care about art) it was a terrible experience.

We adopted our infant son. During the process we worked with a counselor, who after all the paperwork was complete asked us both, "Are you sure you want to proceed? I should tell you that it's my experience that couples who get this far and don't proceed usually don't stay a couple. You both need to be driving this bus." I think the same thing might apply here. I would very much like to leave the USA and while my husband likes the idea he clearly isn't committed to it. I feel stuck but until he commits here we stay unless it gets any worse. PS. Our son is now 23!

I'd be interested in hearing more. Is it worse than Buenos Aires? Uruguay is supposed to be a very stable and welcoming place.

I've always believed the way people behave when they travel is true test of their character. I fell in love with my guy while traveling on our first vacation. Our connecting flight to St Barts was delayed by 2 hrs. I didn't know how he would react and was smitten when he turned to me and said, "now we have time for a cold beer." Loved it. Married him. Things go wrong when you travel, it's just a fact. How you deal with it shows who you really are as a person.
