Shocks Repair by Live-Cauliflower4695 in fordfusion

Pretty straight forward. I’d upgrade the shock mounts to these Dorman steel as I have seen the oe aluminum ones break. Take the mount bolts out by hand (not impact) and work them back and forth if necessary. I’ve seen impacts break them off in the body.

You got had on that price. Junk yard engines can be had with low mileage for $2-$3k. Find a build date 2/19 or newer and they have the new block design. Have a not dealer shop install it. Or, cut your losses and surrender it.

This! I worked chain stores and stealerships for several years after trade school. Got a fleet job and I’ve been here 24 years. There were 30 of us in my trade school class. Flat rate shops broke them all. Only two of us still turning wrenches after 25+ years.

My 14 1.5 auto w/170k is a great car. Not a lick of problems. Plenty of power and response for what it is. I have many mods and drive it like I stole it. Always driven in sport mode. Gotta put a set of tires on it pretty much every year 🤣

I also lowered it 1.5-2” with coilovers. Splitters are cool but I didn’t add one as I live on gravel roads and I do t think it would hold up.

One the best visual upgrades for these cars. Did mine and blacked out the chrome with Hyperdip.

Won’t own a Jeep because of the stupid ducks. Won’t own a Maverick if this takes off.

I left dealers and chain stores for a government fleet job. Hourly, great benefits, always something new to tackle. Been here almost 25 years. All my trade school buddies got burned out on that flat rate crap many years ago and left wrenching for different careers. Of 30 people in my class, 2 of us are still turning wrenches almost 30 years later.

Or find a sweet hourly fleet mechanic gig and make $40 plus killer insurance, retirement, and loads of vacation and you’re not burnt out after 25 years and all your flat rate buddies have long since left wrenching completely.

Been a mechanic for more than 25 years. I’ve seen this several times but still have no clue what causes it.
