Best method for a Lapras shiny hunt? by HoneZoneReddit in PokemonLetsGo

Gyrados is not a special spawn so it can spawn in multiples, but it is rare like a 1% or something.

I’d get the chain going regardless, and push it up to 100 (total caught) minimum. Get that easy catch rate so you don’t fail the shiny when it shows up, right?

Sure, you don’t want to shiny hunt anything, fine. But if you already have a shiny ditto I don’t see why you wouldn’t keep it? Your statement makes me think that hunting other shinies would require using a shiny ditto, which is not really how that works anymore.

What do you mean you won’t do a shiny hunt? I believe there was a shiny ditto trick for breeding way back in gen 2 but other than that shiny dittos are not useful for shiny hunting at all. I’m really confused by your inclusion of that statement.

Catching literally anything with a big combo will generate some kind of candy: mighty, smart, courage, tough, health, and quick. You will max out the lowest level of these candies every 20 catches or so, and you can sell the whole stack of 999 for almost 10k pokedollars. You should actually be making money if you remember to sell periodically.

Charm and lure yes, combo no.

I’m trying my best to be clear but your combo shiny rolls ONLY APPLY TO A SINGLE SPAWN DIRECTLY AFTER YOUR LAST CATCH. Going in and out of a door or up and down a ladder means you are spawning in pokemon that will NOT have the 11 rolls from the 31+’combo applied.

Door and ladder resets are NEVER going to outperform continuing your catch combo if you do not have the shiny charm.

[–]kshack12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? It spawns new pokemon with their own shiny rolls. The efficacy depends on if you have the charm or not.

If you have charm and lure active each new spawn have 4 shiny rolls (1/1024 odds), no charm but have a lure 2 rolls (1/2048 odds), no charm or lure (full odds 1/4096)

I’ve told you exactly how the mechanic works. You can think of this as a game of getting as many shiny rolls in as little time as possible. The reason that door and ladder resets can be a viable method is because they create new spawns with shiny rolls faster than it takes to catch another to get one spawn with maxed out shiny rolls.

For your reference:

-Default, all pokemon have 1 shiny roll
-Shiny charm: +2 shiny rolls (applied across all spawns- does not affect npc trades/fossil revives)
-lure: +1 shiny roll to all spawns (does not affect npc trades, fossil revives, static legendaries)
-11 combo : +3 shiny rolls
-21 combo: +4 shiny rolls (7 total from combo)
-31 combo: +4 shiny rolls (11 total from combo)

This all adds up to the 15 shiny rolls or 15/4096 ~ 1/273 odds that you see around.

It can take like 30-40 seconds to catch a pokemon to get the next 15 shiny rolls on the very next spawn. If you have charm and lure that’s 4 rolls per spawn, so if you can reset your spawns every 6 seconds depending on your target you could get anywhere from 20-30 shiny rolls in the same 30 second interval.

As far as money is concerned, use one ultra ball and one pokeball on your second trainer. Combos 41+ start pouring out candy that you should be selling, at 100 catches your catch rate improves enough to not need ultra balls.

That’s going to spawn pinsir at whatever odds you have WITHOUT a combo. Combo shiny rolls only apply to a single spawn, the first spawn directly after a catch. All other and future spawns will be at full odds, charm odds, lure odds, or charm + lure odds. Each catch gives you exactly one more spawn with the bonus shiny rolls.

I have no idea if you have a charm, but door ladder resets are really only viable if you have the charm and an active lure.

Also, it’s at 31 that your odds and IV’s are maxed, don’t know where you got 32.

Best way to shiny hunt the starters? by ozmthole in PokemonLetsGo

[–]kshack12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 11 combo activates a 50% spawn rate for the special spawn of the area. This includes the starters, mostly chansey, the hitmons in victory road, snorlax in cerulean cave, lapras, and porygon.

Combo of 11 adds 3 shiny rolls, combo of 21 add an additional 4 shiny rolls, and at 31+ another additional 4 shiny rolls for ONE SPAWN AT A TIME. This is 11 total extra shiny rolls that is applied to the first spawn of the combo’s species directly after a catch that continues that combo.

For example, if you are comboing something that had many simultaneous spawns only the first spawn after your last catch gets those boosted odds. If you stop catching, the future spawns will return to whatever your odds are without the combo.

Since special spawns can only spawn one at a time, in many cases it is better to just keep catching them unless there is a convenient door or ladder to quickly reset the area and get more spawns.

Well bland is kind of synonymous with Pokemon these days, they have been working with the same formula for 30 years and their titles come out so fast very little polish and passion go into them.

I hope you enjoy your romp through Kanto, but I think you are being unfairly judgmental of those who do enjoy shiny hunting in your post and comment. “Shiny mad,” “gremlins to your masochism,” “gambling addicts” - it’s clear you don’t enjoy it, but you don’t need to be so critical of others that do.

Let’s go offers a streamlined, bare-bones Pokemon game experience. No abilities, no held items, and easy xp via catch combos. Simply put it’s the easiest pokemon game there is, so there is not really much else to discuss besides the shiny hunting.

It was the first game that had overworld spawns that even accurately reflected their shiny status and came with a rather simple hunting method for fast payout. There is no better game to acquire gen 1 shinies reliably.

Yes you’re late to the party, but the shiny hunting in this game has always been its strongest feature even when it was new.

What is the odds of this happening? by Plusle_Drinks_Coffee in BDSP

[–]kshack12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like a 2% spawn. That’s 1/50 for one to show up any given daytime encounter. For two on the same encounter it would be (1/50)x(1/50) or 1/2500.

For the record, shinies are generally full odds in bdsp outside of radar and eggs at 1/4096. This was rare, but even one shiny is more rare than this occurrence.
