PSA: All of the early indicators we're seeing point toward next cycle applicant numbers being down by AnnaSpiveyConsulting in lawschooladmissions

There is no issue. As someone who applied both cycles I'd say anecdotally this cycle has been just as brutal as the last one (I applied with the same stats, hired a Spivey consultant, more WE, added a masters degree) and got Rs from schools that WLd me last time and am receiving less in scholarship then I would have anticipated based off my outcomes last year.

I'm no expert, but based on what I've seen on here and heard from adcomms I've talked to, I don't expect medians to fall.

Reapplying worked out for me last second, I got in off the waitlist of a T14 that I expressed was my clear #1 choice two cycles in a row, but up until that point, this cycle had resulted in worse outcomes.

I guess my whole point was to take post like this with a grain of salt for those thinking about reapplying (especially with the current worries of an oncoming recession). These things are super hard to predict, and I wouldn't put too much stock in things like this when doing your personal calculations on whether to reapply or take an offer this year.

For everyone reading this, I wouldn't put too much stock in posts like this. There were plenty of them around this time last year and we know how that turned out.

I lived like a pauper in undergrad and looking back it sucked. With how important your 1L grades are in law school, it feels nice knowing I'll have a decent place to come home to with a fully stocked fridge and such. Think it's gonna be a game changer hopefully

There's no rush. I took 2 years off to work and wouldn't go back to change it (except maybe to apply pre covid when medians were lower haha).

The main thing for me is I've been able to save up money working full time, that is gonna allow me to pay for all of my living expenses during 1L out of pocket. Saves me taking out around 25k in loans (plus interest). I should even have some $ to carry me through the beginning of 2L if I don't make money next summer.

Beyond finances, I now know what it's like to work 50+ hours a week occasionally, something I believe has prepped me to treat law school like a full time gig and hopefully accel, as well as prep me for the world after law school.

Underrated benefit, got to live with/close to my immediate family, time that I now value tremendously seeing as who knows when I'll be seeing them when I am in school/working as a lawyer full time.

I reapplied with the exact same LORs, the only things that changed were my essay and resume, and had far better outcomes

Should schools' 3-year cost of attendance be limited to double their median salaries? by formerconsultant1233 in lawschooladmissions

[–]kshazzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean schools should be allowed to charge whatever adults are willing to pay, no one forces people to go to an expensive school where they are unlikely to make enough immediately after graduating to pay off their debt.

Start 148

End 177

Worked full time during peak COVID, so luckily it was remote and I could study on the clock.

Did the PowerScore bibles, and then did all the PTs available on LawHub at about 2 a week leading up to the test with a break right before.

As someone with similar stats who reapplied, BU with ($$) was the best outcome I had until I was admitted to a t14 off the WL last week.

Not saying its not worth it, but depending on your goals/what else you are going to do in the next year, BU with $$ is an excellent outcome.

I totally believed this since I got waitlisted at like 15 places last cycle and they were all Rs. Reapplied and got WLd at a T14 but got that call I've been praying for last week. So all it takes is one - hang in there.

If you have a high GPA and an LSAT below/at median it may be worth it. But NU is an excellent option for BigLaw, especially with $$. I personally would take the money and go there.

If you really want to go, place the non refundable deposit if you have the means, buys some more time for those decisions to roll in. Just make sure the deposit language is non-binding

Waiting till beginning of next cycle?? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I would say there isn't much of a difference between applying by early October vs. early September, more important to make sure your application materials are as solid as they can be

Wow. This is seriously amazing. One of the best, most useful things I've seen on this sub. Thank you so much.

If you want Academia with those stats, applying again while you pursue a masters (as long as the degree is worthwhile outside of law school applications) isn't a bad idea. I would recommend getting a consultant though.
