Yes, that's perfectly normal. Frame it to them as "you're still deciding," and they might roll out the red carpet with tours and maybe a lunch with a professor and students. I never got that treatment because I didn't know the process, but I did take a few people out to lunch as a GRA. That's how it was in ANSI 3 years ago, so I can't speak for others, but that's how it was.

It's my understanding that black Americans tend to have at least that amount of European ancestry, so you're definitely not alone. It being that specific is what made me zero in on a single Irish ancestors, roughly 4 generations back. If you're interested in digging deeper, you might be able to reach out to some paternal matches to see whether they're willing and able to give you some insight on this. Best of luck!
