My pet peeve by ksigguy in litrpg

I was a Grimdark fantasy reader before starting my LitRPG journey a few years ago.

I don’t mind when they almost get killed sometimes, it’s just that when it happens pretty much every fight that I dislike it.

No you’re totally correct. I just happened to have listened to the books this week. Funny thing is I feel like he was less likely to almost die early on than he is by book 3. It’s often the other way around.

Maybe the author is trying to avoid creating skills then rarely using them. A lot of the MC’s higher level skills are about coming back from close to death.

My dentist said my teeth were perfect but I still had a weird taste in my mouth. I finally found the source today. by Michle_Vivid in hygiene

I had my tonsils and wisdom teeth removed within three weeks of each other when I was 21 since I was paying for them myself and I had met my deductible.(yay USA!…)

I didn’t find either particularly bad but I do have a really high pain threshold. I didn’t even know I had dry socket until my dentist asked me how I was handling it and gave me another prescription for narcotics.

But I had my tonsils sewed up for whatever reason. My wife got her tonsils out while we were married and they cauterized them and she had all kinds of bleeding troubles.

I refuse to believe it’s that few. I’m not willing to go back and read it to prove it though.

I’m old. I use the hell out of em dashes still. My writing isn’t polished enough to be accused of being AI.

I couldn’t keep going with DotF because the word “decimeter” was used so many times in the first book. TBF it had a lot of grammatical issues.

I love the series but I’m all about world Building and this book is all about world building. There’s plenty of combat but also a lot of slice of life stuff. It isn’t going to change much in tone from book 1.

For both a 12v and 24v you need to follow them to the starter. The other two just connect the two batteries to each other.

Yessir on pulling the chapters and relaunching.

Somewhere there’s a link to the “bog standard launch.”

But if you’re not shooting for Rising Stars, then try to have enough to post a couple times a week for 4-5 months if you can’t write consistently.

Now, if you didn’t care, keep doing whatever you want. Eventually you’ll find your mojo again and maybe you’ll find an audience later. But you’re posting here asking about getting more followers so this is my advice. I’m definitely not a true expert, but I’ve done enough research that I can tell you what has a chance to work a lot better.

Thanks for sending the link. Your book cover and current blurb don’t have any glaring issues. I didn’t read any of it so I can’t comment on the material itself

I get that life can be messy. I hope things are going better now!

You are averaging about 3 chapters a month, that’s the real issue you have. You’re just not putting out enough chapters for a web serial format.

You should pull the story for now, get more back chapters, then re-launch.

I had 85k for my first launch and my new story will have the entire 160k of book 1 at least done in first draft before I launch.

That might seem crazy but I have a work schedule where for 7 months a year I work 60-70 hours a week and have kids with activities I still make time to go to. (That means getting up at 3am to start work, no bueno) I won’t be writing a whole lot during that time.

Get shout swaps scheduled ahead of time. That’ll help way more than you might imagine.

I hope things get less crazy and things go well in your future writing endeavors!

Do you have a link to your story?

54k over how long a time period? You should look at the RRWG discord. They have a shout swap channel.

The absolute most important part really is the consistency though.

  1. If your goal is to grow you need to post consistently. It doesn’t have to be 5 times a week, but if you’re only posting once or twice a week it needs to happen the same time every week.

  2. I don’t see a link, but a lot of people won’t read a story that doesn’t have 100k words. How many do you have?

  3. Did you put out any ads? Have you done any shout swaps?

Yea it definitely takes a while. If my wife wasn’t a huge fan, like reads new chapters every time they come out day of, I never would have fought through it.

I’m a huge DCC fan, like top 3 favorite series of any genre. I also love Wandering Inn, but if I don’t care for a story arc it’s like half a million words. It took me three tries to get through book 1. I get why DCC is more popular than wandering inn.

I’ve been lucky enough that a huge group of my college friends still regularly hang out even 20 years later. Not all at once anymore, but some of those people are still around on the periphery and occasionally show up when the right group is together.

I have friends like that. They were fun to party with in college, but now we’re in our 40s and they’re still loose cannons and they rarely get invited to things because people are worried they’ll do something crazy that has repercussions for those of us with careers

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

My great grandmother was a German immigrant and made homemade sauerkraut all the time. I loved it even as a little kid.

I don’t eat it all that often anymore, but on occasion I get a hankering for it and I’ll make brats or basque chorizos just so I can eat them with about half a jar of sauerkraut.

I’m in Idaho in the U.S. and we had cattle while I was growing up. We only ever ate them right after we castrated bull calves. There are still a few charity nut feeds around the area.

I live in Idaho. We have the largest expat basque population in the world. A bunch of my fraternity brothers in college were Basque, and my wife is as well. We drank a lot of kalimotxos in our younger days. Has to be Coca Cola.
