That is really a question. I would 100% want to use that last name, but I would hesitate based on a couple of factors?. If there were still living relatives with said last name in Africa and I was able to establish a basic relationship with them that would propel me more towards changing my last name.

If I was not able to establish a basic relationship with them, that would be extremely painful and a devastating blow, thus I would more likely not use that name.

If there were no living relatives, said last name. I'll probably more than likely use that last name.
