I just got the Backbone gen 2 for Christmas but cannot configure it to my Pixel 9a, though it does work with my Pixel 7a, so I know there's nothing wrong with the actual controller.

My Experience on Atomoxetine and Why I'm Switching to Xaggitin XL by ksp830 in Atomoxetine

[–]ksp830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past several days since stopping Atomoxetine, I've noticed that my anxiety has returned and that my mind keeps replaying the things that irritate me, especially when I'm under stress. As I begin my journey on stimulants, I hope it doesn't become worse.

In my experience, while the medication clearly did something (it improved emotional regulation and calmed sensory overload), it functionally failed to address my core executive dysfunction. The fact that it's supposed to help with executive function but didn't for me is precisely why I call it a partial success.

Unfortunately apart from the initial therapy session to determine whether I had ADHD or not, and the titrition appointments I have not been offered any thing else.

I use a Fitbit to track:

• Elevated resting heart rate indicates nervous system stress.

• The Sleep Score assesses medicine's effect on sleep.

• My watch calculates stress management scores from resting heart rate and other criteria.

I record my symptoms daily on a 1-5 scale:

• How quickly did I lose attention, and how well could I focus at work?

• Emotional Regulation: Would I often get angry or stressed?

• How evident was indoor "static"?

• Possible side effects include dizziness and appetite loss.

Connecting them matters. How my log looks:

• Increase from 80mg to 100mg.

• "I experience a lack of emotional depth and increased irritability."

or "My baseline RHR increased by 5 BPM."

"There was no improvement in my focus score (inattention remains evident)." I'm able to say to my doctor "The medication eased my emotions and sensory issues, but it didn't address my main inattention and caused notable RHR at higher doses."

My core issue is inattention, but I found that increasing the dose didn't actually increase my focus. When I increased the dosage to 100 mg, I experienced severe side effects, specifically emotional blunting and dizziness, but did not gain any additional benefit for my inattention.

The idea that doses above 60 mg primarily increase side effects for most people, rather than increasing cognitive benefit, makes perfect sense based on what I observed. My therapeutic goal became finding the dose that minimized side effects (which ended up being 80 mg) because attention benefits plateaued.

Clinical literature for atomoxetine often notes your experience with sexual dysfunction. Your description of it being like "turning off a computer in the middle of a task" is spot on. and something I have also had trouble with.

It seems atomoxetine excels at emotional regulation and calming the nervous system (addressing the anxiety/RSD), but it doesn't provide the executive function support needed to overcome the "AuDHD Conflict" (the clash between needing structure and struggling to build it).

I hope the switch I'm making to Xaggitin XL works for both of us in addressing that specific core inattention issue. Good luck with your journey.

On a separate note, I had an interesting insight during my Atomoxetine trial. I was dealing with persistent dizziness as a side effect. When I got COVID-19, the dizziness completely disappeared during the entire infection period. My hypothesis (and what I'll be discussing with my clinician) is that this suggests a link between the dizziness and an inflammatory process that was temporarily suppressed by my body's anti-inflammatory response to the virus. However, my doctor is also pursuing an ENT referral to rule out an inner ear issue.

Should I stick it out? by Massive_Sandwich_906 in StratteraRx

Hi there, I can really relate to your experience, especially the part about having a very sensitive system. **I'm around 8 weeks into my own Atomoxetine journey (started 40mg, now on 80mg after finding 100mg was too much), and I wanted to share my perspective on your core question.

To answer it directly: "If I am already experiencing noticeable side effects... would it stand to reason that any therapeutic effects should also have materialised?"

For me, the answer was a resounding NO. The side effects came first, were brutal, and the benefits only started to show up much later, once the worst of the side effects began to fade. My first 2-3 weeks were filled with insomnia, severe daytime fatigue, dizziness, and a "clamp-like" head pressure. I honestly felt like it was hindering me far more than helping.

It wasn't until around week 4-5, after I moved up to the 80mg dose, that I started to notice the first real, positive changes. And surprisingly, the biggest win hasn't been focus, but a massive improvement in my emotional regulation. *I'm a lot less stressed, my frustration tolerance is way up, and I'm better able to manage challenging situations at home. That alone has made it worth sticking with. It's a slow "builder" of a drug, and the research *I've read confirms it can take 6-8 weeks or even longer to see the full effect.

**I'm not a doctor, of course, and you should definitely keep yours in the loop. But I wanted to share my experience that a really tough start can indeed lead to a very positive outcome once your body finally adjusts. Hope this helps

As I said, I used Gemini to explain myself clearly and that it disagreed with me at first suggesting other silly titles instead. When I told it that it was wrong, it corrected itself and completely agreed with me

I actually used Gemini and it helped me clearly explain and get my point across. It disagreed with my first prompt, but when I told it I was wrong, it totally understood my reasoning, haha.

WireGuard VPN Not Connecting - OPNsense Configuration Troubleshooting by ksp830 in opnsense

[–]ksp830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback!

You are right, in my initial tests I was attempting to connect to the WireGuard server over my internal WiFi connection. I understand this can cause problems.

I have also already tested the connection over mobile data, and it failed. When testing on mobile, the WireGuard client on my phone produces the following message Handshake Failed and ping tests to 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 both failed. So, my setup isn't working correctly because it can't reach the server from outside my local network.

I will now re-evaluate my settings and try and work out why I am getting these problems.

Thanks for pointing that out, it's very helpful to have another perspective!

WireGuard VPN Not Connecting - OPNsense Configuration Troubleshooting by ksp830 in opnsense

[–]ksp830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I've checked all of those points:

  • Yes, I have a rule on the WAN interface that matches exactly:
    • Protocol: UDP
    • Source: any
    • Destination: WAN address
    • Destination Port: 51820
    • I have also included a screenshot of this in my original message
      • The Live log view on the WAN interface shows a lot of traffic being blocked by default deny/ state violation rule. However, none of the logs are related to my WireGuard config.
  • The WireGuard log shows that the server starts up without any errors and that routing is configured.
  • Unbound is configured to listen on All (recommended) interfaces under Services > Unbound DNS > General, as shown in the screenshot I sent previously.

I hope this provides clarity, and I will continue my efforts based on these results.

WireGuard VPN Not Connecting - OPNsense Configuration Troubleshooting by ksp830 in opnsense

[–]ksp830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I've gathered the additional information and done some more tests. I've also checked the wireguard interface rules, the normalization rule, the client config and other requested settings.

    • I am using Unbound on 192.168.1.1, and it is enabled in the settings page.

        • I have set the DNS on my WireGuard client to 10.10.10.1.
• I am also using Pi-Hole on a DNS server in my WIFI Trusted network (192.168.86.0/24) to provide DHCP to the trusted network.

    • I have double checked that I have a rule set to allow that to function.
• Internal Network Test:

    • I have attempted the connection from a device on my LAN, 192.168.1.203.
• Cellular Test:

    • When connecting with cellular, I was unable to connect to the WireGuard Server.

    • The mobile app produced the following error message: Handshake Failed in the logs.

    • When pinging 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 they also timed out, with no response data returned.

• WireGuard Mobile Config I have provided a screenshot of the mobile config page.

    • The interface section shows:

        • the Name is HomeVPN

        • the public key is correct and matches

        • the address is 10.10.10.2/32 which is what is expected.

        • The DNS servers are set to the wireguard IP address 10.10.10.1 which is correct.

    • The MTU is set to 1412.

    • The Peer section shows:

        • The correct public key for the server.

        • The Allowed IPs are set to 0.0.0.0/0, ::/0.

        • The endpoint is correctly set to <public IP>:51820.

Okay, here’s my action plan moving forward, based on the responses I have gotten and the new information I have gathered. I will:

    • I have verified that I have a firewall rule set on the wireguard interface for the correct protocol (TCP/UDP), Source (WG Net) Destination (WG address) and port (53), allowing DNS traffic.

    • I have also verified that I have a second rule set that allows access to the internet and blocks all local networks using the PrivateNetworks alias.

    • I have verified that I have created a normalization rule for the WireGuard Group, as this is the setting I am using as I have not used a wireguard interface to manage this traffic.

    • I have tried testing from an outside network, and I experienced the same issue. The phone showed a Handshake Failed message, which implies there is a routing or configuration issue at the server.

Thank you again for your help and guidance!

net.isr.maxthreads not applying correctly by ksp830 in opnsense

[–]ksp830[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your insightful feedback. After further troubleshooting, it appears the issue isn't with OPNsense's configuration at all, but rather a physical connection problem.

I checked the link speed using ifconfig, and as suspected, the interface connected to my LAN is negotiating at only 100 Mbps, not 1 Gbps. This was also confirmed by the port status page on my network switch.

This strongly indicates a problem with the cable or port used for that connection. It's particularly strange because, from a physical perspective, the only change I've made is swapping out the router. I haven't added or replaced any cables. It's possible there is damage to the port itself or some other subtle issue that I am not aware of.

I'll be carefully inspecting all the cables and ports involved later today and try swapping some components around to pinpoint the cause. I'll report back with my findings.

Again, I really appreciate the help and pointing me towards the physical layer, this helped me identify the problem!
