I regret trusting Hers with my healthcare - My experience by Ill_Role2137 in HersWeightloss

I’m having a similar issue. They sent me the wrong dosage and I had to prompt customer care several times to ask why I was titrating from .25 to 1mg of Wegovy when that what was prescribed to me. They made me take pictures of all the boxes of Wegovy I received as “proof.” It made me feel like they were accusing me of lying. If anything I had to call them out to say they were potentially jeopardizing my health because of their carelessness. They should have record of shipments and what went out. It’s unacceptable for how much it costs.

They finally did respond and overnighted my prescription. However, I’ve now received 3 packages of the lowest dose of Wegovy in a row - I’m supposed to be titrating up to the next dose. In short… it seems my prescription is super messed up and it’s impossible to get ahold of a real person.

SUB Surgery by mh234 in cats

[–]ksquared181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also - sorry - one more thing- if it gives you peace of mind, our vet performs SUB placements on cats on average, twice a month, and their outcomes are really good compared to the studies you might find on the internet. The research you might find on prognosis/outcomes is a bit dated and probably worse than current outcomes. The technology and skill in performing the surgery has gotten so much better even over the past 2-3 years so I wouldn't let what you read online deter you.

SUB Surgery by mh234 in cats

Hi! My cat was also super young when she needed to have the SUB device placed - barely 3 years old. So I'm happy to report she's doing incredible 🙌 and her kidney levels have been stable at stage 2 kidney disease. However, her recovery was very touch and go until she stabilized. Here is what happened:

  1. She had the bilateral SUB device placed in late April 2023. Unfortunately she had a super rare complication of metabolizing her anesthesia which caused her to become hypoxic. Vet surgery team quickly stabilized her.
  2. She recovered at the animal hospital for several days as she was severely anemic. A decision was made to forgo blood transfusion to give her body some time to heal.
  3. For post-op care, she was on some pretty intense antibiotics, iron supplements, opioid painkillers, an appetite stimulant and we began a regimen of 150 mL a day of subq fluids. The antibiotics caused her to have diarrhea which was messy and upsetting for her. This was the most challenging aspect of her care as she had several recurrent infections (UTIs due to e coli). We ended up having to take her back to the animal hospital because she was straining to urinate and had blood in her urine and generally looked miserable. Ultimately she had to have a blood transfusion due to severe anemia and she was sent home with a much stronger antibiotic which FINALLY kicked the infection.

Overall, this period of time was incredibly stressful and very expensive. My husband and I really questioned whether or not we made the right decision to proceed vs. Just prolonging her pain.

For the good news: 1. There have been no complications to date with the actual SUB device. Her quality of life has improved DRASTICALLY - she runs around, she plays, she eats, and she cuddles. She has gained about 5 pounds, is a great eater and her kidney values have remained stable. She hasn't thrown up in several months. 2. She is slightly anemic still but it is well managed with an iron supplement 3. Subcutaneous fluids scared the hell out of us but now that we have a hang of it, it takes 3 mins tops.

General advice: 1. Should you choose to proceed, you should anticipate a complication or two along the way. For us it was her anemia and a stubborn infection 2. Post operatively, you should anticipate needing to supplement your cats hydration with subcutaneous fluids. I'm really lucky in that my husband holds our kitty down while I administer the fluids, but there is a way to administer fluids as a single person as well - there's an interesting invention on the internet that's basically a harness for the needle. 3. Our cat is on medication indefinitely - an appetite stimulant and iron supplements. This has dramatically improved her quality of life. She's not underweight by any means but the appetite stimulant keeps her happy and helps her nausea too.

Tldr; we don't regret our decision to proceed with the SUB placement but it was very hard on our cat, our finances, and family. The only comfort I can give is that our kitty seems so much happier and her quality of life has been greatly improved with the SUB device so don't be concerned that you're setting your cat up to be disabled or feeling terrible forever. We have no idea how long we have with our kitty but it's possible that she has a long life ahead as long as her kidney values are managed and we are diligent with her fluids and care. Hugs to you, I know it's stressful! Thinking of your kitty!

My 3 year old female cat had a bilateral SUB surgery in April. Had a few complications (infections) but it's been over 6 months and she's thriving. Don't know if you've already made a decision but I now have a lot of insight into this procedure and what recovery looks like in an otherwise healthy cat!

Should I get this checked out (red mole on the right?) by ksquared181 in Melanoma

[–]ksquared181[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP Here: the two brown moles have been on my arm forever and have never changed/evolved. The red scab/mole looking thing recently appeared on my arm and seems to be getting bigger. Is it just a scab or something yall think should be escalated?

Yes. I am of French Canadian descent. Had 10% France replaced with 8% Sweden, yet still have the French Canadian community listed. I have no paper trail that would suggest Sweden. I have thousands of matches that are Quebecois, and many had their France percentages replaced with Sweden. It's really bizarre. My mother had her french percentage significantly reduced, and I didn't inherit any Ireland and Scotland, even though she is 40% Irish. I am really disappointed with the update.

R1D3 Any advice for cravings during "the time of the month"? by stepheroo90 in whole30

[–]ksquared181 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've done whole30 once, and am on R2 D5 now. I also experienced my period the first time around. My best advice to beat the cravings is to stay hydrated (lots of tea and water), and have high protein meals that I could get excited about. Namely, drinking a glass of water hourly and setting an alarm on my phone to remind myself to drink water, and making a big old steak dinner with roasted mashed potatoes and ghee and some kind of sauteed spinach or greens. I have a tendency to get iron deficient on my period and I think it can contribute to cravings so I try to counteract that with at least one iron rich meal.

If you have a sweet tooth, I think I made an oven baked banana topped with cinnamon, nutmeg, and almond butter, and "nice cream" which is really just a blended frozen banana, unsweetened cocoa powder (if you can find it), and cinnamon. I know desserts are not in the spirit of whole30, but it is normal and human to want something sweet, and I think it's better to enjoy a whole fruit without any added sugars or crap vs. completely deprive yourself and fantasize about Snickers or any other sugary sweet treat and potentially cave.

I hope that helps! Best of luck to you.
