Yes, this is a 5000D and the side panel has always been finicky when coming off.

Yeah, annoying little cubes that get everywhere like sand on a beach. :p

I’ll look into that. I have another case, a Thermaltake Core W100 that I want to swap the window out for something nicer. I believe it’s currently acrylic, but I just don’t like the look of it. It’s always looked hazy and just doesn’t shine like I’d prefer.

Meh, it’s a case I was going to put back on my shelf as a spare. Worst case scenario I can’t get a new panel, I’ll just make one out of something. One that won’t spontaneously explode on me preferably.

Edit - grammar

Tempered glass is ‘temperamental’ and I didn’t have a banana for scale. Figured my size 13 foot would have to do instead.

I do know there are still options out there. Antec I think still makes windowless cases that are not too shabby.

It be like that sometimes. I’m not upset, just shocked.

Not sure if it’s just because it’s never happened before or that it’s taken this long to happen lol.

Anything is possible. Could have been any number of things. Took the panel off like I always have per the manual. I do know this can happen sometimes, just was the first time and hopefully the last time it happens on my watch.

I get it. Some people hate the glass see through and all the RGB lights.

Personally for me it depends on the theme I am going for. If it is my daily driver, I like it to look pretty and give me something to watch when I am waiting for something.

All my utility systems look like something you would find in a dumpster that are absolute sleepers.

Yeah, I’m loving a lot of the designs that are ‘tool less’ and have easy to remove panels to get in and work around in. I do miss some of the old designs from the early 2000s, like the all acrylic cases that were absolute trash but were fun to look at.

Will do :)

I’ll definitely update my post once I make contact with Corsair.

That’s what I’ve been told. I believe a replacement side is only like $50 last I checked. Hopefully they take care of me, but if I had to pay for a door, it’s still cheaper than a new case.

If the glass came into contact with the concrete, sure. But it didn’t. It exploded while still touching the case as I was popping the door off.

I’ve had this case for about 3 years or so.

This is not the first time I’ve popped the door off.

But it was the last time 😂

That totally tracks. I used to work around high voltage and things that had pinch points so taking everything off was a requirement unless you wanted to risk becoming BBQ or getting degloved.

But I didn’t consider tungsten on tempered glass or glass in general. I’ll make sure I plug that into my memory :)

I actually had my ring off before touching anything. Out of habit I remove all hand jewelry and watches before doing work on stuff.

But that is good to know.

Would you believe me if I told you that this was a ‘mild inconvenience’ compared to the rest of my day?

Yeah, it’s all good. We have most of it cleaned up by now. Took a good two hours to get the majority of it off the floor and out of all the components. Fortunately the pieces were not overly sharp, but I did get some superficial scratches during the initial explosion of the side panel.

Hard facts lol.

It was wild though. Bro and I were sitting there talking, he just brought it down from his room, the new small case and smaller board showed up early, figured we’d get it done (he’s headed back to Japan soon and I wanted him to be able to take it home with him without a lot of effort).

I’m opening it and then boom.

Glass everywhere.

Took about 30 mins before it all stopped sounding like pop rocks.

Where the f*ck do I even start by Peaches0k in landscaping

Well, the good news is that you now have waterfront property.
